Can they become invisible or cloak?

Because my team was just aced by one. I couldn't see the little bastard. I thought it was a Nemesis sniping me but when I finally fell, they tell me it was a Combat Engineer. An invisible one.

Lame.

Only the last bullet matters. A Nemesis can take you down to 1% health, and a random Combat Engineer shot will earn him the kill.

Kinda like when someone single handedly brings an Atlas to its knees, then a teammate walks up and pops an M3 Predator bullet at it. Atlas kill.

Thing is, I looked around for the little bastard and I couldn't find him. I dunno.

Now my squad was aced in the 10th round by a 4-spawn of Atlasas. Silver and Gold are funny. Fun tho.

What he said.

Many times I've been "killed" by Assault troopers while a Phantom blasted me down to no Shield/health, then a random Trooper walks up, screams "LOLBUTTS" fires off one round then drops me to his credit.

As for them being invisible, I have seen AI get stuck in random sections of the map before, however on all the occassions I can remember, they were unable to attack whilist being stuck. I have never seen an instance of AI being JUST invisible and running around. Not to say it doesn't happen.

Example: The infamous "Spawn with no guns" glitch from Battlefield 3 that so many despise, has never happened to me once at 405h of game time. So, it's hard telling. Goes to show the unpredictable nature of how bugs present them selves in 3D gaming. It's a hit miss system sometimes.

Could be that a Nemesis got you low then the engineer finished you, or it could have just been a bug. I've run into invisible enemies a few times, mainly turrets though.

I've even had a couple of times on my asari where I stasis something, it falls over like it's dead but still has 1 bar of hp, becomes immune to bullets and continues to fire at me from the ground.
