Game being exclussive retailers meant they must have offered Bioware/EA and incentive to be the sole proprietors of the CE. The fact they blindly accepted this is a bit suprising. Fair enough a year ago things wernt as bad as they have become. But now a week before release this is suddenly announced. Sorry but thats far too tight and EA/Bioware should have had more foresight into the possibility this could (and has) happened.
I'm pretty certain their foresight was fine. Alternative retailers were available as soon as Game Group announced they couldn't deliver the goods- I don't understand the legalities of an exclusivity agreement, but I'm pretty certain EA can't ship the CE to other retailers unless Game Group state officially they can't supply it. EA/Bioware were clearly aware this was on the cards since we now have no less than four retailers now offering the CE straight off the bat.
I agree that the whole Game Group exclusivity idea was flawed, but as you've stated, its financial troubles were less apparent 12 months ago. I simply believe EA/Bioware have handled the supply situation as well as they could have in these circumstances. They just need to make more people aware of it now!
