Yes I saw it, and I get it. I'm sorry things haven't worked out, but I can still see things from their point of view.

What format was it?

Graingergames still have PC and PS3 copies available.

HMV are still offering the Xbox version.

I'm sure you can see it from their point of view, you aren't sitting here feeling like c**p at 6.15am because you can't sleep thinking you have let your child down.... perspective is a wonderful thing <<<<<<<<<< that's mine.....  If I were not in my shoes I *might* agree with them too. My reality of Shopto is always going to be that they let me down with my very first purchase from the site.

It was Xbox... lots of places still have PC/PS3 copies because ME is an *Xbox* game :P (Please note, I play games on all platforms, I am not a fanboy/girl/woman)
I've been to HMV already and preordered, but I still don't feel safe, iyswim? Considering that I, personally have been let down by Game and Shopto in the space of two days, my confidence in getting these games is............................. strained at best.... I should be cheerfully anticipating this release like many thousands of people in the US/Canada and various parts of Europe and the rest of the globe, but I can't... the entire thing has been overshadowed by disappointment and a very real concern that I won't get the games at all now... It's just how I feel... I don't ordinarily spend my time moaning on BSN and am saddened that I am moaning now... :( but I *feel* let down.

Fair enough. I do get it and you're right I would be feeling pissed off about it too in your shoes - I'm still (like probably everyone else in the UK right now) nervous about my pre-order (also from shopto) until I get it in my hands. I wasn't trying to argue with you or say you were wrong.

This is a pretty unique situation and all outlets were pretty much rushing and scrambling to get everything sorted out for people. I know you'll probably never order from shopto again, but I will say they are usually very good and very reliable.

I hope things work out for you.

Thank you and it's fine... :) I totally get the whole *trying to be as reasonable as possible* deal.... but what it really boils down to is this.........

EA should have never either *allowed* Game to negotiate the exclusive or should never have *offered* them the exclusive rights to sell the N7 edition. If it had been open to all retailers, I'd have gone somewhere else in the first place.

It's EA/Game that are to blame for the root cause of all our distress whichever way you wrap it up and put a bow on it. I wouldn't have ordered from Shopto because I wouldn't trust a store I don't know with something so important if I hadn't had to, iyswim... We'll see what they say when I call them.. I will judge them on their customer service after that. But they should NOT have cancelled at 9.15pm when I couldn't do anything about it for 12 hours, that's shoddy... :(

Um, maybe I'm missing how credit/debit cards and banks work, but... surely all they have done is place a hold in the amount of the pre-order given that the items are not available yet and cannot be charged and posted to your account. A hold in the amount will affect your available balance, but until it clears through the bank that's all it is, a hold.

Here's the thing the retailer wants to make sure everyone is able to get their copy of the game and they don't want to deal with surprise cancellations which would cost them money. You might not do this , but they don't know you might not. They have the right to protect themselves financially by enforcing a one copy per person/order rule.

^This until you've been fully charged you don't own anything and it's still the stores until you've been fullyy charged.Just like me I also have a hold where from Gamestop , but it's not mine until I've been fully charged. No different than wanting to buy a bag chips , the chips aren't yours even though your holding them until you pay for them.

Tbh, given the circumstances I'm surprised that such a policy wasn't enforced from the beginning as it makes sense.

Shopto have just canceled one of my pre-orders for no reason whatsoever. Sent an e-mail to see why...

They cancelled two of mine.... And I had paid up front............ These were gifts for my daughter and her BF.... <_< First and last time I will purchase anything from Shopto.... :( I've let my daughter down now...  I will make sure that I let as many people as I can know about this... <_<

I notice you both have multiple pre-orders, did they atleast leave you with one copy each? It's possible they are implementing a one per customer policy given the demand.

I ordered whilst on the phone to a member of staff, who put the order through, he left me on hold whilst he checked that I could order more than one copy........... He then came back and processed it for me... I then paid for all copies up front and the money was taken from my card. They entered into a contract to supply me with those copies when they took my money.
I am not being greedy, I am not planning on making a profit as I said those copies of the game were gifts... gifts that I have been budgeting for, for months :(

If they have implemented it, it has been since I placed my order and I am fairly sure they shouldn't be cancelling retroactively it is an apalling business practise and this will be my first and last purchase with them...

Quoting myself and bolded important part....  PAID.... Over a week in advance of release - Money - gone - out of my account into theirs, they had NOTHING  to lose.

Man I feel bad, as I was the one who directed you to shopto, they have never done a one per customer, never thought they would. None of the other retailers have. Again shopto is a good place to shop...but this one instance they have let you down!

Ok , but they still have the right to protect themselves again financially by enforcing a one copy per person rule.

People have to understand , under a normal situation they probaly wouldn't be doing this. But this whole situation came a few days from a big launch day.If I owned a store I woldn't want to risky sales by letting people order more than one copy. It's a temporary rule for ME3.

they have just cancelled one of mine, had ordered myself one, and my boyfriend one as a birthday present, really not cool.  I am guessing they are only letting us order 1 each, would have been nice to inform us that!  rah i thought all this CE stress was over no such luck, until its in my hand not gonna be happy!

THAT was the time to say No... not a day later... I don't get why people are giving me a hard time, I didn't flipping well let ANYONE down............ <_<

I don't think anyone is not in support of you.  Someone mentioned some alternative places to pre-order up a copy, so hopefully you've done that before they're gone.  We're all in the same boat.  And to be fair, as some people have yet to find out about their pre-order cancellation from GAME, surely you can understand how this might benefit them.

I'm sorry for you too.... :( I don't understand why the victims of the f*** up are the ones getting the blame here.. but you know.. BSN = Quibble Central :( Did you try HMV, costs more, but they have a free T-shirt apparently...

I never said you didn't have a right , but your not trying to understanding why they've done this. The thing is the customer can expect certain things up until a certain point , beyond that the retailer can ultimately control how much they sell to one person as long as it isn't biased by race or something.

It's my last point I won't comment or attack you anymore(that wasn't my intent).:pinched:

Could she not get a debit card with her bank account?

I know I had one way back when I was 17

Not much use now I know but it'd be worth looking into.

You don't promise something you can't deliver... they said they could, then they changed their mind... OK? That's my problem. As I have explained *painstakingly* I was on the phone to them for around 30 minutes, they said it was OK. IF they had said no there and then... That would have been fine because there were plenty of options at that point... now do you understand WHAT it is that I am fed up about? I wouldn't have given a flying f*** if they had said from the get go only one copy.... Do we understand my problem now? It's not that I fail at comprehension here...  I get what they are doing BUT they should not have told me it was OK to then change their mind later............. *is fraught* :(

If you already paid I dont see the issue and other retailers aren't being limited. Maybe they are giving less stock to shopto than everywhere else? *sigh* (I'd give them a ring aswell, they can be understanding)

I dont see why they would lump you with people who would more than likely cancel, even though you paid upfront.

I still feel abit unnerved about this whole situation anyway.

Glad you managed to secure a copy on HMV for your daughter! Let's hope it all works out.

OK.... I'm going to share more than I feel I should here... she has uncontrolled diabetes, she nearly died about 17 months ago (DKA) she had severe diabetic cataracts and was nearly blind. She struggled on, viewing the world as if through opaque glass for four years and still managed to do her art work...

Her specialists finally agreed to operate and remove the cataracts done over two ops, one in November and one in January, she can see fine now, ofc she needs glasses.. but up until the second op in January, she would not have been able to order ANYTHING online because she couldn't see the website, let alone bank card details... So I did everything for her in that area... it's going to take a bit of time before she is confident enough to do that for herself, but she is getting there... So there you go, that's my sob story that I didn't want to share, I'm not looking for sympathy only justice... that is why I am royally p*ssed....... up until January she had NEVER seen Mass Effect properly... this was to be a lovely gift/gesture... ruined..
