The fact that they gave GAME exclusivity on the Collector's edition is EA's fault. Even if they couldn't have know that GAME's finances were in so poor shape, that sort of thing is always going to be bad for consumers.
I suppose you could argue that, but GAME has been sketchy the past few years--and not just because of their money troubles. I'm not going to pretend to know how retailer exclusivity works, but I'm sure these things were agreed upon well before various developments took shape (GAME's stance on Origin, for example). When you buy out the competitors, as GAME has done, and those shops close, and you've only got a GAME store on your high street...
