FWIW, I've canceled my preorder over at Zavvi (PC version) and stuck with Amazon. I'm sure quite a few people will be canceling their double (or triple or even quadruple) preorders once the dust settles and cooler minds prevail, so even if some places are out of stock right now, there might be some with limited copies available later on in the week.
Nothing wrong with Zavvi m8 I've ordered from them before and they are on my "good game shop list",Amazon are ok but can be slow sometimes, for pure speed ShopTo.Net is number 1.
Btw I ordered PC CE version from Zavvi lunchtime

Game has been going downhill for a long while now and I'm not sure how this decision will help them

I hope they go to more than one retailer. This wouldn't have been as big a problem if Game hadn't have had the exclusive on the CE edition.

Maybe they called EA's bluff.... EA said we simply cannot accept these terms and unless you revise your position we will withdraw our support [typical EA] and GAME said okay we won't stock any of your major titles.... how do you like those apples? Basically who's gonna get more butt-hurt over this in UK retail is up for debate.
Other publishers like Activision will look at this very carefully... and hopefuly think well if we agree to these terms we won't get our major titles pulled from store shelves which will impact sales no matter how you look at it. GAME needs publishers to accept these terms to survive.
If Game actually chose to do this then they're fools as they're losing a lot of customers for good.
I for one will never use them again after this and the web-site mess they had last year.
I'm just glad ea/ bioware seem to be sorting out alternatives quickly for us.

For a company that is nearing self destruction, why go ahead with something like this?
I mean really, Game have permanently damaged their image with this, i never really liked them before, but i now can only hope its adminsitration comes swiftly and buries it.
Clearly when it came to the time when stock had to be shifted through the supply chain to Game, Game couldn't guarantee the conditions and stipulations that it had agreed to, and in the absence of credit assurance, EA could not risk the worst case scenario of not being paid after the fact with customers already having possession of Mass Effect.... If Game, grabbed lots of cash over Mass Effect and Fifa Street, and had til the end of March to make good on its obligations to EA, but then official receivers were called in two weeks, EA would get a fraction of the money owed to it and only then after long and protracted legal wranglings.
Something like game going bust would be massively toxic up the supply chain especially with a massively anticipated item like Mass Effect

Yeah, I'm thinking of cancelling my Zavvi pre-order since it doesn't seem to promise anything Amazon isn't and I trust them more (after a quick google search on Zavvi reviews I'm a bit iffy on them). Though I might just wait until Friday to make up my mind. They won't bill until it's left the warehouse (or a couple of day beforehand) which going by Zavvi's estimate is around the 9th of March which is a week this Friday.

Game going bust was going to happen anyway, whether this debacle happened or not, their tactics are in themselves toxic, their advertising is insulting and they pushed the used game sales thing way too far.

What was the pre-order bonuses that were exlcusive to GAME? From looking and Amazon. Zavvi and all the others they have pics promising stuff like the robotic dog or the appearance pack etc.
They are part of the CE. The preorder is a rifle and armour.
Oh, just the N7 stuff. I'm not too bothered about those (I'd hope that Amazon could get them in GAME's absence though), but I'm more concerned with the appearence pack, the dog etc. Do CE owners get 'From Ashes' also?

The lesson (if it can be called that) is that exclusive deals (read monopolies) are always a bad idea. Of course us customers didn't really exercise the vote with our wallet thing because , hell, we all wanted ME 3. Now some lucky people have the CE they didn't manage to get before, and some unlucky people will not have the CE they thought they would have.
How do you balance the books, EA?
The problem is, if you are going to do deals for CE etc, you cannot just give it to one or two online retailers, as that is basically unfairly restrictive and discriminating against people who don't have Internet access, etc, and giving it to a single supermarket that have no concept of a games value beyond them being loss leaders

Since there are a lot of pages and I don't wanna go through them all, for people who pre-ordered through Gamestation, have you got your email yet confirming the cancellation? Just wondering since I haven't got anything yet from them.
I pre orded mine online and it just says canceled
