its quite stunning to think once Game does fold and takes Gamestation with it that there will only be HMV (meh there pulling out as well no pc games) Whsmiths (meh overpriced) and the supermarkets left (jsut meh for the hell of it)

Might leave room for some of the smaller indie stores to grow though. I find it hard to believe that nothing to rise up to fill the highstreet games retailer postion left by GAME and Gamestation.

as to what Nightsabre said I considered the Digital Deluxe but if I aint getting the CE I am bloody well getting a hard copy you couldnt take it off me for love nor money.

Well I expect so as well and the current existing online and highstreet stores should pick up the slack but who will have the balls to try look at game there massive and yet there not making squat.

It comes down to How do you make a profit in a business that relies on second hand sales and deals with publishers when the increasing use of DRM and DLC direct from the publishers is squeezing your very slim profits.

Just a quick question for some: those who pre-ordered from Gamestation or Gameplay (which are subsidiaries of Game in case you were unaware): have you received a cancellation email?

I've pre-ordered with Gameplay. However, I have not received a cancellation email and the status of my order on the website is still 'Ordered'. I don't expect to be getting the game from them now, but this is a little curious still. As the Gameplay website will be vanishing tomorrow (to be subsumed by Gamestation), I was wondering how the Gamestation site has handled these 'cancellations'.

From the people that have posted here, GameStation handled it exactly the same way as Game. The emails were even word for word the same.

*phew* Managed to snap up an N7 Edition for Xbox from Amazon (who seem to be releasing them in waves - keep checking for the next 24 hours!)

A week before release, and GAME give me a damn heart attack in the middle of a media lesson... I'm not shopping there ever again though after the panic attack I had trying to get my N7 Edition re-ordered

Comes down to DTHD...how much money do EA want to potentially lose?

They have the worst reputation in the gaming industry, a new chairman/director has not changed anything, they still run the same business model....still as ruthless as ever...

Now personally (though I'm not an exec at EA on millions a year...so what the hell do I know)....I would see this as the perfect opportunity to gain some good rep with the gaming community and start to change the image of the company...

But then...we both know they won't lol...

Funnily enough they don't have to change as people will still buy the games that have their logo on it.

I always buy online anyway Teleraine...just easier and more convenient...yes it kills the high street...but the company still makes money...

But I will never start going down the digital download route.....not until the games are considerably cheaper compared to retail boxes given there is no printing, boxing, making, pressing, shipping etc etc...ppl who buy digital downloads are just being ripped off...and they cant see it.....ohhhh...I got a shiny jpeg map...yeah...big deal lol...

Unfortunately, it is the way pc gaming is going, and then that will be the day I turn to consoles, and play my old games forever.

Like you...the game is the game...CE or standard...irrelevant really...but I wanted the shiny box...to sit next to my other shiny CE boxes.

Just be aware that many people have on reserve multiple copies so as to ensure that they get the DLC - Once the retailers offering the DLC is announced, there may be a significant amount of cancellations so there will be a few more available, so keep your wits about you and good luck!

Best advice of the night.

Hey Minimoo, your name sounds familiar from the ME3 multiplayer demo. I think we may have been on the same team. :)

Have you unlocked a multiplayer Revenant rifle?

I have indeed unlocked it :) How long ago are you thinking that we played? I haven't been at home to play it for the last week and a half so, :crying:

We were on the same team last Saturday I think. The whitebase one. Your rifle caught my eye. :P

If you  mean the Saturday just gone, that can't have been me (unless one of my 'rents has a tendency to play my Xbox whilst I'm away )

But your name sounds familiar too, assuming your GT is the same as your BSN name.

It was definitely you, the player's name was "Minimoo" (and that was his X360 gamertag) and he was using a revenant . Last week for sure t hen (maybe not Saturday then). My gamertag is Shadowbanner. Ok off to bed now. Tomorrow work.    -_-

Exactly and I agree...why should they?  Though I won't comment why...I might upset a few ppl, or even the mods....but those very same ppl moan year in and year out at a 'yearly update' for 'full price'...yet still buy the games anyway...

*shuts mouth before saying something he might regret*

It took GAME over 5 hours to email me after EA announced they weren't getting it. If they had emailed me in the morning, I would have seen it and would have had a chance to get one.

They're a publisher. Sadly, they couldn't give two ****s about their rep with the gaming community. They make their money by publishing sought-after titles and by milking everyone they can in the process. All they care about are their MGs (hence exclusivity) and profit-sharing arrangements. And now they also have Origin. I'm surprised it took them that long to try to corner whatever's left of the PC market.

also what do you do if god forbid your digital distributor goes the way of the dodo as an example Direct 2 drive went to gamefly recently and ended digital magazine and walkthrough sales and archiving just gone poof no recourse apart from making sure you have a copy saved somewhere.

So I ordered the German one for £86. That's £16 more than I was originally paying, which was already ridiculously overpriced compared to the US anyway. Now I've just got to thinking, what am I actually getting for this money? Assuming I can get the standard edition for say £35, plus the From Ashes DLC for £10, what am I actually getting for the extra £40?
• Premium metal case featuring commemorative artwork of Commander Shepard.
aka, "a box".
• 70-page hardbound art book featuring hundreds of unique and gorgeous illustrations from the BioWare development team.
Limited edition Mass Effect comic by Dark Horse Comics, complete with unique cover artwork.
These would both be nice, assuming they're not translated into German.
• Join the ranks of the N7 with the premium fabric N7 patch.
Really don't care about this at all.
• Exclusive 4x6 lithographic print featuring a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork.
Pretty, but I'm not too bothered really.
N7 Arsenal Pack - Bring the firepower with the N7 Sniper Rifle, Shotgun, SMG, and Pistol.
They'd be cool, but I'm not overly fussed about different guns in the game.
Robotic Dog - A faithful sidekick to keep you company on board the Normandy.
This, on the other hand, I want SO BADLY.
Squadmate Alternate Outfit Pack - New appearances for your favorite squad members.
I'd like these too. But I'm thinking I could survive without them.
N7 Hoodie - For Commander Shepard's casual days on board the Normandy.
I was really wanting this too.
• Digital soundtrack.
Cool, but it's not on a proper cd, so I'm not that bothered. I dare say I'll be able to listen to it somewhere anyway.
• Xbox LIVE Normandy prop for your Avatar.
Kinda got one of those from that facebook game, so whatever.
• Display your initiation in the N7 ranks with a collection of forum and social badges, avatars, and perks.
Wowee, avatars for the forum!

So really, I'm thinking "Is it worth £40 just for a robot dog and a hoodie that I really want, and some other things that while pleasant enough if I had them, I think I could cope without?"

Considering cancelling my preorder and just picking up a standard edition on release day.

the cost of CE's has always been rising and we normally always get um somethinged cos they always want to do DLC or the Cerberus Network or something now you never really get the greatest value its more for the "ive got a CE ooooh" factor

3+ weeks ago (ish) i'd of probably agreed with you. I'm not sure what the least painful solution is now & i don't think anyone can be sure.

Your suggestion would cost EA a lot of money in admin costs as well as annoy customers by delaying delivery by probably weeks.

This solution means some people are left without the CE they thought they were getting but an equal number who thought they'd missed out will be happy because they now have one. Also everyone should get the game on time.

A bad situation is a bad situation. There's no way of completely fixing it.

Personally (i think) i've managed to source a CE from amazon. If i hadn't i'd be annoyed but i'd end up just getting the SE & buying the (CE) Day 1 DLC with the free MS points i've just got using the £5 game voucher & the last of my reward points.

Once i'm playing the game the rage would fade away.
