My guess is, real sex scenes with nudity actually take quite a lot effort and resources. You need naked appearances for everyone involved, you need a lot of interacting animations without clipping, which work for a variety of Shepards.

In ME1, they recycled a lot, which cuts down on resources needed. But given how Shepard's options have become more varied, that's not really possible any more. You can't just swap Tali, Thane and Garrus around in the same scene.

Kinect, MP, action/story modes and day-1 dlc also takes up resources. Maybe they could have used some of those for this.

That doesn't surprise me at all. The game is only rated M after all so it's evidently for a younger audience.

Well, Story mode will have taken barely any resources.  MP will likely be used by far more people than any individual romance scene.  Kinect was likely effectively payed for by Microsoft.

(And don't get me started on Day 1 DLC)

how about the game the witcher 2. there's a sex scene that looks like its from a porno. i live in the US and i don't get it either. people go crazy over janet jackson's boob for half a second, but its okay to blow someones head off, is there something wrong here? this country is messed up in that regard, i had to stop a mother in gamestop the other day because she was going to buy her 7 year old son GTA 4.
of course her son hated me for it, but its way too violent for a kid that young, and she didn't buy instead they walked out of the store.

Well its not a great miss.. but its just weird, ME1 was nice Nothing to do with 'porn' in a video game it was classy and functional.

I love that we live in a world were the Saw franchise has 6 movies and a game without anyone caring but ME1 gets sideboob and some ass and it's the end of the world.

Basicly beating someone to death their won skull is fine but bare ass will get you sent right to hell.

dissapointing that Fox News has this much power over whole industrys what ever happened to freedom of speech and believe?

as long as its on par with DA:O then i wont mind if not then BW really are wimping out

I hate to say it but it sorta looks like less of FOXs fault and more of the fact that they were baught by EA right after.

Not really that interesting, but why not.

A bit of violence, blood and beating and people are entertained, and not worried at all, but once there is a bit of skin showing anywhere on the body that is not hands or face some people freak out.   It is just so ridicolous. I truly hate people like that with passion.

I don't really care much for the sex part, or romance scenes, but if they intend to do them I want them to make it realistic.  ME 2 romance scenes weren't that bad, but some of them were utterly riddolous.

ME1 set the stage for a slight more mature themed Sci-Fi with an age appropriate romance scene. ME2 Dialed it back to a slight less mature game(the themes and what the game makes you think about, not the F bomb being dropped like it's dresden) with romance scenes that seem to be out of a PG-13 teen movie.

Now don't get me wrong ME2 had plenty of mature moments, but overall the tone of it seemed to be a bit less mature and that was relfected in the romace as well. And EA came into the picture after ME1 so I think they were going with what would sell well to every demographic(less sex more violance and swearing) instead of keeping the mature theme from the first game.

Which reminds me that when I first saw the romance scenes in ME 2 I felt that it broke my immersion, cause I always saw the ME universe as a darker sci-fi. After all, it did start out as 18+.

Let me get this straight: You can show a kid getting blown up, but some tasteful nudity? **** NO!

Oh well, at least we'll get a cheap fade-to-black and maybe, just maybe... Some EPIC cuddeling. <_<
