I always found the "sex " scenes to be the cherry on top. The dialog banter and everything was more interesting.

Of course, same here. However, I demand an amount of realism in the romance scenes. If they won't have realism they might as well drop the romance scenes.

As someone who values meaningful relationships and hates having a sex scene in something "just cuz" I have to dissagree.

Sex is so not overrated.

The problem was that Bioware so radically changed the styles of the romance scenes after ME. It seemed to me like they were moving the realism line for their franchise. I know ME is a sci-fi universe, but when they established a certain amount of realism then reduced the realism from that point it felt unimmersive. And then they just sort of ruined the RPG feel.

The whole point with an RPG is to be immersed in the world, to be able to sort of "live" in it, but that is really hard when there are things that breaks the immersion. The point with changing established realism is something that breaks it for me.

Funny, I found quite a lot of romances in ME where sex is there "just cuz".

Generally speaking, while I feel that the distinction between sex and violence as evil corrupting sources is silly as hell... you can do a class "sex" scene without sex. Tali's romance finale was actually handled quite well.

*shrugs* Honestly, the lead-in and lead-out of sex, narratively, tend to be more romantic and gripping on a story front. Tsukihime is a pretty good example. Of course, that might have to do more with Nasu being unable to write sex scenes to save his life, but...

Though, to be honest, this isn't a huge gripe with me.  This feels like just another point on a long list of issues I fear I already have with this game.

There are at least two types of sex-scenes in storytelling. One 1) that informs you of the fact that the characters have an sexual encounter, and one 2) that does that while attempting to give you a taste of it(allows you to immerse into the sexual experience to varying degree). ME 1 was a light type 2, ME2 was type 1 (unless you count making out with Miranda as "having sex", I am sure some upset Amish player does)

If you want to watch polygon boobies be my guest. Whatever floats your boat. It doesn't add anything and probably just makes it awkward. I don't have to see everything. Use your imagination and figure it out yourself what they may or may not do.
