Why wait? This is a game i've wanted to play since completing Mass Effect. It's not something i'll let somebody else decide on how much the experience is worth to me.
Any member of this forum who is 'waiting for reviews first' probably shouldn't be a member at all. If you care that little about the game, why not just play something else altogether?
Leave Mass Effect alone forever. And let those who want to experience it for themselves appreciate it for whatever it turns out to be to them.
Seriously, just leave, now.
I was about to ignore this post but no.... I can't let it slide.
Its insulting to say that only those who pre-ordered the game should be allowed to post here.
Oh no i'm not passionate one bit about this thats why I'm here just to annoy you.

hard core fanboys who think bioware can do no wrong will get it day 1. People that loved ME1 and Me2 but are a little concerned over the way things have been going concerning ME3 will probably wait and see. I am going to wait and see. The face import issues, day 1 dlc, the stuff about a very large lack of dialog options.. It's all just to much to justify buying it right on the release day.
This isn't true. The only Bioware games I've EVER played were ME1 and ME2. I'm not of the opinion that Bioware can do no wrong. I like the series, I think it's the best series made, but after this I'm not purchasing another game day 1 because I don't agree with the industry, how they are treating the used game market and how they want to make consoles that can't play used games. I don't agree with the lack of innovation in gaming and how profits, special packs/exclusives and not gamers, creativity, innovation are dictating the business.
So I'm not waiting and seeing anything. I'll pick my game up, download the patches if need be but I'm concerned about the DLC. Bioware never paid me for my services, in fact, I'm making sure they can keep a roof over their heads, pay for their kids college education, etc so that fanboy stuff doesn't apply to me, bud. They are a company who made a series/game I enjoy and thats it.

DA is peasant food compared to Mass Effect. Trilogy vs single game...not even comparable. DA was good, but ME is infinitely better.
Gotta disagree with you on that. DAO didn't need to be a trilogy to tell us a story

Firstly I'm not even sure if I'll get this to begin with thanks to the exploitive day-1 DLC, but putting that aside, BioWare really hasn't impressed me lately. DA2 was a disappointment and SW:TOR is a less-than WoW. Frankly, the last BW game I enjoyed was Dragon Age Origins. I just don't see a reason to expect a whole lot out of Mass Effect 3.
I'll be waiting until I finished ME 1 and 2 before I touch ME 3, don't want any spoilers. Of course I'll be avoiding reviews too for the same reason. I want it to be a complete surprise.

I've pre-ordered and will be playing it day one. Why? Because I can and because I want to. I've stayed away from serious spoilers and will be making my own determination on whether this game is a worthy end for my Shepard and her cohorts. I'm willing to take that risk.
Given ME and ME2, I'm willing to give BioWare one more chance, even through the disaster that was DA2.

People (okay, you specifically, OP) need to stop blaming Bioware for DA 2. Yes, DA 2 had the Bioware label on it, and yes, it was less-than-stellar and yes, the product we all got was unworthy of all the hype that preceded it, but ME 3 has been done by totally different people. Different artists, programmers and writers. A different game, in essence.
Which isn't to say that you should run off now to pre-order ME 3, of course. If you feel that not buying ME 3 is a good way of punishing Bioware for the mess that was DA 2, then go ahead. Do that. Just don't judge every Bioware title because of one bad apple.
TOR isn't all that great either. Sure the plots are good, but they just seem to be KotOR Lite. Originally I wrote off DA2 as a failed experiment that won't happen again, but with TOR, the leaked story of ME3 and the shenanigans with Origin and day-1 DLC, I simply have no reason to expect ME3 to be all that great until I get some validation about it that doesn't come from ads.

I very rarely preorder anything, and all the day 1 dlc and shop specific bonuses just make me want to barf..
But after playing ME1 & 2, i want the story of my Sheppard to end. But after this I'm going to be very suspicious of Bioware games (like every EA title).

I always encourage people to be knowledgeable, responsible consumers. If you preordered because you love Mass Effect that much and know that you'll probably like it, then great! we thank you for your support and hope you're not disappointed.
If you're going to wait and read a few reviews or rent it for a little while first or play it at a friend's place first to try it out, then great! We thank you for considering us and hope that, when you do play it, you enjoy it!
If you're choosing to not buy or play the game, for whatever reason, then great! I'm sorry we couldn't tempt you this time and we hope you'll find one of our future products more to your liking. Thank you for your support.
First of all, I’d like to thank Bioware rep., for being honest on this matter. It is as he said. If you pre-order, it’s because you love the franchise and you believe, that it will continue to do so.
We also live in the times, where the marketing hype, often blurs the true quality of the game, so if you have doubts, be a responsible gamer and wait for reviews and friends’ opinions on the game before deciding on your own purchase.
If you chose not to, then spend the money on what you think it’s worth.
Having said that, here is my first post on these boards and partly directed to the Bioware/EA team
I consider myself an aware customer and responsible gamer. I’ve been buying most of Bioware’s titles, starting with Baldur’s gate and finishing now with Mass Effect 3. Some of the titles are more memorable than others. The biggest let down was the Dragon Age 2.
Being a finance person, I do understand goals of companies such as EA and Bioware. They have budgets, they have stockholders they want to please and they have to show that by the growth in their financial figures.
I also do realize that games have certain budgets within which they have to operate, and I suspect, that the modern games spend most of that budget on works associated to audiovisual content.
Let’s face it, we as gamers in general, expect that games will look better and will give us better audiovisual effects than games of the past. From a business perspective it’s unreasonable also to aim for niches instead of general audience, which are casual players. It would be reasonable, if the niche could be defined as a viable customer segment, which will bring satisfying profits.
Personally, the ME3 will be my last pre-ordered Bioware/EA game. I just feel that what I expect and what Bioware starts to provide, are two worlds which start to be more and more apart from each other.
I certainly would wish, that instead of SW:TOR we’d have another KOTOR. I certainly would welcome another RPG with multiplayer functions similar to what Neverwinter Nights offered, instead of typical action packed TPS battlegrounds, for that I prefer games like Space Marine.
What I do like about the ME so far:
- Consequence of your choices have effect on the world, sometimes it’s small, like some comments and news, sometimes it’s big, world defining choice.
- Making attempt on showing that you are working under certain time constrains. It was visible in ME2 if you picked up one mission, before all others were completed. From that moment on it would count, whether you wanted to do more missions or chase the main plot. The effects could have been different.
- The world itself and the variety of life and a massive work invested in the lore.
- Dialogs among party members and some really good lines and writing
- Allowing for partial failures. There are more options than complete or reload a mission, you can fail part of it, but you will not get full assets later on.
What I dislike in ME:
- Too much shooter oriented. I mean, you have such a class like infiltrator, engineer, etc. and all missions require you to shoot through hordes of enemies. You could play some Alpha Protocol, or even Deus-Ex, for some inspiration.
- LI – uhm… don’t get me started on this one, but in short, the only LI I would accept to be bisexual is Asari, others I’d find that are more defined, i.e. are either homosexual or heterosexual. That would make them more believable, otherwise they seem like overgrown rabbits, humping anything that moves…
- Multiplayer – in RPG you either make it like Neverwinter Nights, or like in MMORPG game. I prefer the first option, but the second could be fun once in a while.
- Dropping the significance of class you chose. It’d be perfectly ok, if a soldier would know nothing of bypassing locks and hacking and some solutions and helpful tools would not be available to him, while engineer or infiltrator could make use of those assets. Same with biotics. Some ways of completing certain tasks or routes, would be available only for them.
I do hope that future Bioware’s RPG games will be more RPG than action. I do not expect the scope of world like in Baldur’s gate, unless it would cost for standard edition on par with the current ME3 CE, but I would certainly welcome an RPG game where there is more focus on your character, its development, and where the combat would be less dependent on player’s skill, but more on character’s set up and equipment, sort of like KOTOR and old RPGs. I’d certainly also look forward to a game, where the shooting your way through is not the only way of completing the majority of the game and where the class and skills you chose define what you can and what you can’t do.
Currently I’m starting to see less and less interest in games overall, because more and more of them are starting to offer similar experiences. The lines between genres, which were well defined in the past, are becoming blurry. Hell, if Modern Warfare or Battlefield had side missions and some options for the player to select a dialog, I’d see even less difference…

I'm glad to hear it. This was a really nice and level-headed response.
I am one of those who will read reviews and rent/borrow before buying. It doesn't mean I'm raging against BW, it just means that I will make certain that ME3 is the kind of game I enjoy playing, before I make the decision if I'll buy it or not. It is very likely that I will end up buying it, eventually.
I hope that BW/EA will keep in mind some of the concerns that have arisen on these forums when designing their future games and DLCs

Preordered the N7 edition and will be judging it for myself. As for the TOR/WoW comment by the OP, I actually play WoW (main raider with my guild) and TOR. I prefer TOR over WoW, and when I'm not raiding, I avoid WoW like the plague (except for Wednesday TK mount runs with a friend).
TOR is just terrible. Even for a newly launched MMO just look at Rift.

Depends on who's reviewing it. Kevin van Ord is always very fair, completely unbiased, and gives the score the game deserves.
Also, he actually reviews the game, he doesn't just tell us what the game is.
