 So basically I was wondering if the community could recomend any good anime?  Beyond Pokemon, YuGiOh, I really haven't expanded my viewing pallette.

No, Some Geth, you're not the only one. I think if people started viewing anime as a medium for storytelling rather than "yay cartoons!", anime may become less, well, ridiculed by North American audiences. There are some truly stellar storylines in anime. Here are some of the anime I really enjoyed.

Love Hina (I'm almost sorry to admit this)

Tengen Toppen Gurren Lagann (I don't know why I like this one but it had me until the end)

Ranma 1/2
Burst Angel
Gunslinger Girl (but not Il Teatrino as much)
Full Metal Alchemist

I am partial to giant robots and science-fiction anime.
