Oh god those visors. It takes a special type of awful character designers.

Liara's is superb. Tali's, Garrus's and Kaidan's designs look pretty smart too. The visor/glasses doesn't do any favours for Ash or James. They ruin the look for me.  If they can be toggled off though, good looks all round.

You can toggle squad helmets off iirc so Ash's armor will look super fine.

In another screenshot with James and Kaidan wearing their alternate armor, James isn't wearing that visor. 
So maybe?

the visors on them absolutely suck...i hope removing squadmates helmet options count on visors...visors should be see through imo like miranda's alternate or the dr pepper visor thing (cant remember its name)

and yeah i'm pretty sure that Visors count as helmets.

I dont remember if the you can turn off the helmets or just on cutscenes though
