I'm having problem with texures on a model I'm working on:

Image IPB

The black triangles are occurring on parts of the model that are doubled so they're visible front and back, specifically the belt and the shoulder plates. I've recalculated the normals and smoothing groups, and made sure that there's no duplicated faces with no luck. Delete the "back" faces and it looks fine.

Has anyone seen this before? I know it SHOULD work because some of NWN2's stock models are already double-sided in this manner.

why you need a shell when you will never see the back side (inner side) of the specific parts? it's just a waste of tris you can spend somewhere else.
just as a test try to inflate the parts to see if the space between the tris is too tiny. perhaps the engine's problems with this. are you mirroring uv islands? you could try to offset them by 1 if so.

This was done by request since the shoulder and belt pieces disappearing from some angles WAS visible. I personally didn't think it was severe enough of an issue, but I guess it was to the people I'm modeling this for.

Yeah, my thought was that the engine was having problems identifying front vs. back faces as well. I'll try offsetting slightly and see if that helps.

That does indeed look like clipping from the underside polys.
