I was stunned. I basically said the SAME thing, she "got" the same message and understood what I was saying, but I guess my "tone" amused her more. I guess I need to pay more attention to the nuances of the replies with her than with the other characters.

:)

So... she has a doggy brain!

The **** is insane, your for ex tellin a smith that if he works and give you armor you can look for his daughter when your at the castle, how the f, can that be considered wrong or good by any standard?
its a deal, its not being a good guy.

Because she sees the whole "saving the village" idea as a big waste of time. As far as I can tell, she doesn't judge by "good/evil", rather "useful/useless". And, to be honest, looking for a lost blacksmith daughter while on a quest to save the world... doesn't sound like the brightest idea, does it?

It does if it's the easiest way to convince him to repair the militias armor so they stand a better chance. And as far her thinking the "save the village" quest a "waste of time" how else were you suppose to gain Teagan's favor so you could get inside the castle to save Eamon? Slaughter your way through hundreds of enemies single handed in a single battle and then deal with the entire castle yourself? Oh no, I see, her plan was to entirely skip Eamon and just go on to face the blight without an army behind her.

Morrigan is completely stupid sometimes.

The problem I have with her (and Sten's) disapproval is that, to save the world, we need to go to the castle anyway.  So, since we're going, hey, might as well look, no skin off my back.  If the smith was asking me to go look in the forest for his daughter, then, yeah, sure.  But not the castle that is where we want to go anyway.

With sufficient coersion, you can actually get Sten to approve of helping defend Redcliffe.
He also approves of you forcing the bartender to fight, hah.

Guys, you're thinking "out of character" here. You know this is a main story line quest, but the characters do not. And, judging by her suggestion in the beginning about heading straight for Loghain's head, I would expect her to propose going to the castle directly, leaving the village to its fate.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get Alistair to -100 simply by trying to keep Morrigan happy. I get that they don't like each other much, but holy cow is she a ****.

She disagrees with some things you do, but she won't leave your party over it. You can easily make that up by conversations with her and doing her personal quest. After that she views in a new light.

Add gifts to that and she won't be any trouble.

You're there anyway.  But just because you agree doesn't mean you have to do it, anyway.  I forgot to look, myself.  He still made the armor.

Morrigan's not very bright, honestly.  I find it hilarious the way she gets after Alistair for being stupid, when her own hangups make her a virtual moron incapable of understanding that often the best way to help yourself is to help others.

I think it's simply the whole Neutral Evil vs Lawful Good thing.  Sparks tend to fly.

The biggest problem with keeping her happy I think, is not keeping your words and actions in line with her philosophies, though it is pretty funny when she disagrees and makes a smart a** comment. The problem is with the other members of the group, if you have Alis or Wynne or Leliana with you in the group they are going to give you big negatives for siding with evil Morry.

I'm leaning towards the best "evil" group being Morry, Shale, and Sten or Dog or maybe Zev.

Funny thing is, I don't see her or Sten as being evil...

Also, I love everybody's (forumites) different feelings for Morrigan.  I think Bioware created the best virtual woman ever, judging simply by the fact that no one seems to fully understand her.  You think she's tough, try living with a real woman, you'll spend years trying to figure out her wacky sense of approval/disapproval.

On Sten, I don't think he's evil.  He follows his honor code.  Unfortunately, I don't what exactly that code entails.  Sten is alien, basically, and I like him for that.    He's more alien than any of the species encountered in Mass Effect, in that I haven't yet figured out what exactly makes him tick.

Agreed. Morrigan is not evil. She's selfish. She doesn't like to share as she says so herself (both to you and Leliana). She has a tender (possibly good) side to her which she keeps buried deep and something she views as a weakness (and rather scared of).

Nah. They are awesome together. They tease each other a a lot - which is really funny - but they get along just fine. It's just playful banter.

It's the how and not the what. Spoiler:

The girl in the chantry in Redcliff who wants you to search for her brother. If you agree to look for him Morrigan disapproves, but if you relunctantly agree (asking for a reward) Morrigan doesn't make a comment or disapproves (no + either though).

Best evil character in a video game: HK-47. He just loved killing meatbags. He made evil playthroughs of KotOR totally worth it.

DA:O NPC's? Not so evil, just layered... like an onion.

But I was already on my way to the castle.
How long would it take to look? 1 min?
And as someone said, I had to defend the village, better with soldiers with armor then none.

You don't know how long it'll take to look for a single maid in an entire castle. And not only do you have to look for her, you have to try saving her, specifically, when it's overrun by evil.

And no, you don't have to defend the village. At all.

Alistair: "So... Let's talk about your mother."
Morrigan: "I'd rather talk about your mother."

Morrigan: "You... do not truly think I look as my mother does, do you?"
Alistair: "Have you really been thinking about that all this time?"

Morrigan: "I hate you all." :D

Oghren: "Heh. So you and the Warden Huh?"
Morrigan: "I hope by Warden you don't mean Alistair"
Oghren: "Him? Does he even like girls?"
Morrigan: "(Chuckles) That remains to be seen."
Alistair: "I'm standing right here."

That's dumb though, when you're gathering an army. At the least you lose knights, and the militia are all willing to sign up with the Arl to help you fight Darkspawn as well.

They've all got different motivations. Morrigan isn't genuinely evil in a puppy-head-crushing way, she's a no-nonsense girl, who has a bit of a megalomania streak, and wants to see you behaving in a fashion which agrees with her philosophy that everyone needs to quit being a whiny baby and fight for their own survival, just like she's had to.

Sten, on the other hand, is all about being a Warrior and obeying a code of honour, but its not your traditional white-knight code of honour. He wants to see the player return a gift in-kind, but he also doesn't care fondly when you coddle people (similar to Morrigan) who are took weak to fight for themselves. He doesn't follow some religious moral code, only the code of the Qun that all have their place in the world and they need to get off their asses and find it.

Shale just hates birds, wants to squish everything and wants to see the player treat him with respect as a living beind, not some object to be commanded around.

As I said in another thread, Morrigan isn't evil, or even amoral. She has the morality of a teenage fan of Ayn Rand. She's also young and easy to manipulate (at least in terms of approval). She likes having her ego stroked and it's damn easy to get her approval high. I got into her tent immediately after leaving Lothering for crissakes.

Sten is by far the hardest character to get to know. I made some big mistakes with conversation early, and I think he's gotten all the paintings except one, and his personal quest has yet to come. Methinks maxing his influence is for another game.

Sten is weird.  I got +12 for getting frustrated at him.

Sten is the type that only respects authority when it is demanded, so get pissed at him and put him in his place.

Anyways, the issue I have with the whole system is that when I choose to do something and one of them disagrees, Like Sten did when I saved the Mages, I should get some respect back after achieving that goal.
