DLC sorta hinges on having Shepard alive, which means that it'd only apply to one variation of the Destroy ending

Only if it stars Shepard. Dragon Age got around the "hero died" problem by letting you create a new character and saying that this character was some random Grey Warden from Orlais rather than the Warden that saved Ferelden, so it could still be part of a timeline in which the Ultimate Sacrifice ending occured.

If there's any post-ME3 DLC or a post-ME3 sequel to continue the story in some way, it could simply star someone else in Shepard's place.

That wasn't a DLC, it was an expansion. The difference is that an expansion is practically a full game in and of itself, whereas a DLC is much shorter and costs less.

Then an expansion is surely what they need.

I've been to 11 forums that are discussing this, and i have met exactly seven people out of hundreds that are ok with the endings, if this is indeed all there is. I don't think people are going to be ok with this, especially long time fans. People are pissed.

The relays being gone sets an interesting ground for a game/trilogy set far into the future, where civilisations establish new ways to travel vast distances in space. At this point Shepard is a mythical figure or simply forgotten, the existence of past relays and/or alien species is also a myth, and the different races will have to re-aqcuaint themselves. This will also allow the developers to use imported saved data from ME3 but nothing too major so as to hold their creativity back.

Not to mention that it will be easy to attract a new fanbase all the while having ME veterans feeling good about knowing things the average game character does not. I used to dabble in creative writing, and the supposed ME3 endings are the way I would go with if I wanted to re-invent the universe I created. In fact, if the endings are indeed those that leaked, I'm willing to put money that this is where the writers will go with the IP.

Why would you want to reinvent something that is still relatively new and untapped?

Because the myriad of different players' choices will either require a re-invention of the setting or invalidation through establishment of official canon. There is no way the writers of a future trilogy can deliver another great saga while having thousands of variables to accomodate. It is just not feasible.

An almost blank slate is needed. 'New' maybe, 'untapped' no way.

They'd be force to either:

a) declare a cannon like Star Wars and invalidate player choices

or

B) stick strictly to prequels of the timeline before the start of ME1.

or

c) create a future setting that will not be hugely divergent depending on imports yet still allowing said imports.

Either this has got to be the the largest trolling attempt in the history of Bioware or they have fallen that bad.

@ 1:24 Walters states there won't be any post-game DLC because it would just be a "boring wasteland".  There isn't going to be any post game content... unless the leaked endings are true, and fan rage causes a Fallout 3 style retcon.

I´d like to believe other devs learnt from Bethesda´s original failure.

Developers never learn from mistakes. They do whatever they want regardless of what the customer wants. Only industry in the world they can get away with it and they do.

dragon age origins style. You revert back to where you were right before the starting the final mission.

Basically a waste of time and money if that's the case since none of the leaked endings have been met with positive output.
