When i press Add Bioware points nothing happens

When im trying to click on add Bioware points or "expand your game" its just load the bioware social network site and nothing more happens.

Same here. http://points.bioware.com results in a time out, and using the https version redirects me to http://social.biowar.../user_home.php; same as above when trying to follow the links to add points or clicking the ingame button.

You need to be logged in to your account in order to get to the points site - this is to prevent someone from inadvertently buying points without the game etc.



If you are not logged in, you are directed to the login screen here on social. Once you login there, it should direct you through to the points site - or you can select the Profile -> Add BioWare Points link on the left (under your portrait).



If you are logged in, you will be asked to confirm your password before jumping to the points site - this is an extra security measure as you can choose to store credit card and other info on the points site.

I am logged in. The first time I tried clicking on Profile -> Add BioWare Points it asked me to confirm my password and then redirected me back to the main page. Now it just redirects me directly without asking for a password. I take it I wouldn't be able to post a message here if I wasn't properly logged in(?)

Same thing for me. Ticket open and unresolved since 11-18-2009.

The problem hasn't resolved itself since yesterday, and no answer on my ticket either. For reference, I have tried using different browsers (firefox, chrome, ie), wiping cookies and cache, logging in and out etc, but nothing seems to help.

Additional information: sometimes, but not always, when I click on the links to buy points, I get the following message asking me to input my password: "you must confirm your password before going to the checkout". Entering my password and proceeding will just return me to the social home, as previously mentioned.

Ok, I did an experiment: created a new account using the same computer/browser. And it worked, I could access the points page. Logging out and back into this account, and it no longer works. Logged back into the new account, works again. This can only mean that the problem is with my account and not something with my computer/browser/connection/etc setup.



Now, back when I created the account (before DA:O release), I remember having problems linking the new account with my existing Bioware and EA accounts. I can't remember clearly, but I think I had to mess around recreating accounts several times before I got stuff working. Is it possible that my account is in an incomplete or broken state?



(off topic: is it possible to gift points and/or dlc to other accounts?)

On the issue about tickets not being worked on. I also can't buy points with my account (although I have a slightly different problem with the account but the result is the same) and I've opened my ticket on November 6th. Still waiting for a resolution/answer ...

The longer I browse the forums and look at all the "unable to buy points" thread I get the impression that EA/Bioware doesn't care about those issues at all. I think that's also the reason why they have a thread with a list of all the DLC there is for DAO and links to manually download and install it. The thread I am refering to follows. Just look at Point 4.1 in the thread.

I can only guess that the EA layoffs hit the support department hard...  Too bad, it's ruining Bioware's good name.

I actually want to use my money to buy stuff from them, but apparently that is not important enough for them to reply to my tickets in order to try to sort things out.  Hopefully they are busy fixing the back ends and getting stuff updated for Return to Ostagar.  I just wish they would at least acknowledge my problem and tell me that they are looking at it.

Hmm, but I still need to buy the DLC first, right?  I need to be authorized to use them.  And I can't do that without first getting points? (I want Warden's Keep.)

Doesn't really matter anymore now though, I am swamped in work and preparations for uni exams so I shouldn't be playing anyways :)  But come the holidays I hope it's been fixed!

For anyone having problems with the "Add points" link from this site, try clicking on "add points" from within the game itself - that should bypass several potential pitfalls and take you directly to the purchase page.

If that still doesn't work, it may be an issue with your email address or password having special characters in them - you can try changing your password and see if it works then.  (mentioned in this thread:  http://social.biowar...9/index/110561  )

I've been busy lately so haven't been able to play / test things until now. Still not working.

I got a response to my ticket a week ago asking for some seemingly unrelated information (registration code for game and dlc etc) and provided the information promptly.  Have not heard anything since, and now my ticket seems to have disappeared from the help page. :mellow: Guess I'll have to open a new ticket and wait a new couple of weeks..

Thanks for responding!

Using the in-game button results in the same behaviour as clicking the various links from this site (just gives me the social home page, no error messages).  My email address and password contains no special characters, afaik (only A-z letters and numbers).

edit: if there is anything I can do to provide some sort of trace or debug information to help identify the problem please tell me and I'd be happy to do so.

No, I still can't access the page. Waiting for someone from Bioware or EA to help me : |

This weekend I will finally have time to really play so I would love to have the issue resolved before then.

edit:  In another thread you said that you tried creating a new account and you could access the page from it; I did the same thing and it also worked for me.  But the DLC I got with the game and my characters are all tied to this account.  I wish it was possible to gift points or DLC to other accounts.

Same for me, when i choose the other count inside the game, i can't use my characteers...



I tried to copy&paste the URL of bioware points but it's usefull... clicking inside the game or clicking here isn't work. i haven't got any ideas...



First time that i have problems to BUY anything. If also were to asking money i'll understand it...

I also had a problem with my account got this error message when trying to buy points:"

An unexpected system error occurred.



com.liferay.portal.DuplicateUserScreenNameException "



After a month writing back and forth with a Tier 3 Technician I have an account that's working. The old one just couldn't be fixed so the tech create a new account and tried to transfer all my items including achievements over to the new account (after I insisted :) ). Not all achievements survived the transfer but some of them ;) I'm still not happy about the time it took to fix everything and that I can't use the old e-mail adress (the one from the old account) anymore but at least I could buy points now.

Just open a ticket. It will get routed up the chain if noone on the current tier is able to help you. Better yet try changing your e-mail address on your EA-Master account as Jesse van Herk suggested. I've just tried that with my none working account (didn't find the button to change the e-mail before) and voila I can buy points with the previous not working account.



Damn do I feel stupid now :/
