then that's simply acting like a stubborn child and bioware should feel no loss were you not to buy the game. you can't always get what you want and being that resistant is just childish. "no matter what else happens, if the normandy crashes, i don't like it"? really? the ending was the only reason you ever played the mass effect series then? it wasn't, you know, the actual playing of the game or anything?
the number of people i've seen on here making themselves look like ten year olds lately is insane.
Are We going to get a response?

So, you're taking the fact I haven't cancelled my pre-order and extrapolating it to mean the sales haven't suffered? Why not take the dozens of posts from people who have/are threatening to cancel and extrapolate them to mean the opposite?
So a few people are upset, does it immediately translate into a drop in preorder sales? I'd be skiptical that it would, unless I can find some figures which usually aren't reported tell at least a month after the fact.

Except that we have actual proof that pintos explode. All we have are endings from a supposed old script that was supposedly leeked two months ago.
did you ever actually see a pinto explode? or diod you jusy hear about it.

It's possible you missed the second half of my post since I had to edit it.
Even if pre-order sales don't tank (more than they already have due to the GAME debacle), I don't see them sustaining good sales after launch once the word gets out that this is how the game/series definitively ends. Furthermore, I don't see them getting many good returns on DLC short of a "rescue everyone" / "happy ending" package because, by that point, people won't really care about anything other than that.
I'll concede that this probably won't result in a massive decline in pre-orders (for now, seeing as this news is still relatively fresh), but again, I don't see how this can be considered a "good thing" when you have the fans hating the game, and the fans are the one who promote it to their friends. Even now, I personally feel guilty recommending the series to my fellow RPG fans because I just don't agree with how they've handled the story and character development, the main reasons I bought into the series to begin with.

I can only assume these endings are re-
*locked*
They're just going to keep locking threads. I'm honestly surprised that the neighborhood Volus hasn't already done so here; like the dozen others I've seen today.
It seems like this is what gaming companies do nowadays, when their decisions are met with unfavorable reactions from their customers/fans/etc. No more listening to the consumer AND trying to appease them. I know for a fact that they listen, but Bioware is not the type of company that will take user feedback seriously. The Old Republic's WoW-ness is an example of that.
I'm beyond cynical about it now. But when you see nothing but locked threads and completely false advertisment about the endings; one can't help it.
Maybe the hip thing now is "Ignore it, because they're going to buy it anyways".
I agree, sadly... I will not be buying any more Bioware games after this if the endings are true. We've been lied to far too much.

The problem is that you can only play it if you've bought it, and for some people, the endings are the deal breaker. I'm pretty sure you can't return a game you've completed just because you despise the ending. The better thing for people to do would be to not buy the game until it's been 100% confirmed that these leaked endings are, in fact, real.
Well if I don't like fish and we're all having tuna sandwiches, Yeah I'll pass.
they would be the appropriate substitutes for your analogy, after all. if you happened to like the previous games, which i'm assuming you did considering you're still around, i fail to see why this game would be different. again, it's being premature and narrow-minded to claim to know you don't like the ending to the game when you haven't played it. it also doesn't warrant the extent of whining that's going on on the forums right now.
Like someone else said. There is no choice in this ending.

well, really, there is. he either dies or survives, and at the same time decides the future of the rest of the galaxy. the only thing he doesn't get is to live happily ever after with his LI, which is quite unrealistic given the situation and scale anyway. furthermore, there's no solid confirmation of the specifics, as far as i know. beyond that, a lot of people that are complaining will be surprised in that they'll enjoy it when they play it themselves. i'm not saying all, but there's no doubt going to be a lot whose minds are changed when they experience it themselves instead of simply reading a script and raging.DifferentD17 wrote...

To what? If you are expecting an official comment on the story ending, on a game that is not yet released, there isn't a single chance in hell that that will happen.
Sorry.
It's only 6 more days. Or 5, if you are going to a midnight release.
'The leaked information is not accurate' would suffice were it not all true.
They claimed the leaked demo script was inaccurate and it'd change, their silence on this would suggest an answer in itself.

if they say no... and it turns out to be only half true or w/e then they will be lying. alternatively someone out there will pick apart BW's comment and eventually come to the same conclusion, i.e. they are lying when they said the no the leaks are false
if they say yes... they will be confirming a spoiler which if i remembered correctly has never ever happened
if they say nothing... people will continue to rage and create conspiracy theories which happens regardless anyway

not really. everyone is saved from being slaughtered. i think such an ending is fairly positive, realistically, considering the situation and what you're up against. i'd have liked a happy ending for shep, personally, but i'm going to save my final judgement for when i play it myself. even a tragic ending can be done well and impress.DifferentD17 wrote...

So they found a few vids with bad endings... *shrug* sure, if you mess up your playthrough the crap is going to hit the fan... and that includes dramatic cinematics with the entire galaxy getting messed up.
My gut feeling says there are choice-related happy endings, like in ME2. Proof? I have none. Why? Because you can't make cinematics for choice related endings for every combination of LI and every casualty along the way, and you can't really datamine it. You can only find out about the fixed endings, like for not-imported quick playthroughs. I'm sticking to the BW employee interviews and believe ME3 will be a stunner based on choices from ME1 and 2 - up to the end.
<edit>
A response? No, we won't get one. Unless they actually see a few thousand cancelled preorders, which isn't going to happen.

BSN hates you (no big surprise, really, BSN hates everyone and everything
I hate you (No, I don't, but making this topic is worth of hate)
Did you play through the game or did you read a text summary of the ending? I guess, it's the latter. If it is, then play thourgh the game and THEN whine. You don't even know what you're talking about, for God's sake (says the atheist)

Calling out and insulting people's "masculinity"? ridiculous.. That has absolutley nothing to do with the question asked in the thread.
Anyway..
I don't think anyone expects Bioware to come out and explain each ending given the game isn't even out yet... but the fact that Bioware has said nothing makes people inclined to think that these ending are true..
