The demo contained an outline of the whole ME3 story.

So Bioware leaked it's own story? That seems odd.

Yeah, here is what I think has happened:

Marketing decided it would be a good idea to release a fake outline. That way, when you get different endings to the ones you expect to get, Bioware can say, "See, we do listen!" and all the nerds have 'gasms and end up forever worshipping Bioware. (Losers.)

OR

Bioware screwed up, like it often does.

DOUBLE. POST.

Oh, OR, the script was "leaked" in order to drum up more hype for the game.

Please, BioWare marketing isn't smart enough to pull that off..they did it by total accident!

Oh my God...you guys should be reading the "Spoiler'd Commisserating" discussion group. If half the things Xolsite is saying are true, the fan backlash will be legendary. Apparently:

- if you fail to save the Quarian race, Tali jumps off a cliff and kills herself
- the Merge ending is pretty mind-blowing
- Ashley apparently spends most of her time between missions drunk (and she has a Zaeed-style response system - she only has three major dialogue tree conversations, two of which are when she's in the hospital after the injury she sustains)
- the end credits include a Faunts song
- you can call Diana Allers up to your cabin to give interviews regarding the war effort
- Noveria only shows up in multiplayer - you don't get to visit it in the campaign
- there aren't any real consequences for cheating on your ME1 love interest - they just say, "I know what you did!"

LEGENDARY

Surely this one is a good thing?

I've heard the song (I've had the album its from for a couple of years) and its not that bad. Not as good as M4 part II, but still suitable for the mood.

The others all seem rather backlash worthy though.

Congrats, you are finally starting to realize how crappy the script is.  We all knew that from the script leak from before xio even got the game.

A lot of that can be argued too like Noveria, he didn't say it was MP only he said that they reuse the MP map for the Noveria mission.

True, he could have been mistaken. I list the Faunts thing as a positive, but I didn't know how ridiculous some of these revelations are. Apparently, Xolsite said that the script was chopped in half from the leaked documents to the final game.

Basically, we have three different outcomes. Destroy, Control or Merge. But there's 7 different endings. All outcomes require energy from the mass effect relays. When the choice is choosen, the relays all burst energy of different colours, depending on the choice. Red for Destroy, Blue for Control, Green for Merge. It's heavily implied that the relays are all destroyed, or rendered useless, regardless of which choice you choose.

Shepard can die if a renegade, forever alone if a paragon, but can survive with a high enough readiness.... for what's that worth, being the Normandy, for some unknown reason after picking up your squadmates from Earth, is suddenly next to a relay (The closest being orbiting Pluto, I have no idea WHY they are anywhere near Pluto if the fight is on Earth).

The relay zaps them in just before it is rendered useless and the Normandy crash lands on an unknown planet in an unknown cluster. Depending on which ending you choose, the hatch of the Normandy can open with no one in it (All implied dead), can open with Joker + your two closest squad mates, or Joker, EDI + your two closest squad mates and glowing eyes, EDI and Joker hugging and happy they can have weird little babies together now.

Shepard is 'sacrificed' in the merge ending regardless of paragon/renegade and readiness.

Actually that doesn't bother me much, I'm ok with that, fact I kind of like the EDI and Joker ending, assuming these are the actual endings we are all not just running down a path made of pure bs, I would like to know how to make that work.

- the Council finally accepting that the Reapers have shown up

Well you know, that kinda hard to deny at this point. Even if they don't belive, a threat that can put the whole universe on it's knee in a month is worth being called "repears".

What. The. ****
Edit to clarify: The ending is pretty much what I would consider a realistic outcome (assuming, that the vastly more likely "Reapers kill everything" outcome is averted)... it just doesn't make for a very good story
Edit 2: Don't they play test ending? [That's a rethotical question, judging from the execution of the demo the answer is obvious "Test? What's that?"]

I pretty much like the endings. They actually make sense. I had my doubts when in the first game they introduced reapers. I mean a million year old race of galactic badasses who are intelligent enough to pull the strings of whole civilizations along countless cycles? How can we even have a chance to resist?

It's a pretty deep pit to climb into storywise - if the ending is happy, it's really not plausible at all. If you can defeat them easily it would make reapers an inferior foe, which cannot happen as reapers carefully evolved our civilization to surely be weaker then them. Logically our civilization should be wiped out just like any other before.

Maybe you have just one chance, and that's only because you had an early warning. But this chance should be desperate enough (and all 3 outlined are that). Shepard dying just feels right and further emphasises that
a) this war had the highest stake
B) shepard's story is over

PS: re 'doomed character': of course I would play it. A story is only over when someone dies. You can leave it at halfway with 'and he lived happily ever after' but really, how he lived happily? what else happened to him? why he was such an important person shaping history? and after all these stuff nothing ever happened to him again? It's better to have the main hero dead, at least you know all which can be said about him was said.

It really looks like BioWare dropped the ball with the little things.

They were so focused on the spectacle, they seem to have forgotten what made it the spectacle it was.

The endings bother me less than the apparent lack of dialogue with crew and the way Ashley Williams character has taken a fall for the sake of....well who the **** knows what for.

I guess we will know for sure next week some time...

All I know is I am not getting all hyped up this time...like I did for DA2. I don't think I can take another such massive disappointment.

I am also going to read my guide book first, (unlike DA2), so I can decide if I want to play the game. Or, maybe play it, and make up my own ending...lol!

shoot a buncha bad guys, then stop before finish, hand out roses and chocolates, "good job saving the galaxy sqaudies!" heheheh!

anyway, lets see what happens next week. there will either be a mess or not, or something in between...lol

I would much prefer an ending of the Reapers just flat out winning rather than this crap. I cannot believe someone thought the Matrix Revelations was a good ending for a trilogy.

I guess it is just the 21st century way-- everything has a terrible ending now. See also: Lost, Battlestar Galactica. It is really just another example of how far ahead of the curve Twin Peaks was.

Maybe you shouldn't. Really. For all of us curious little rats, the poisoned cheese is killing us slowly and we haven't even eaten it yet.

Oh, how I wish I was still naive thinking my choices matter in this game.

The endings are already being discussed in this thread. Please take your discussion there. Thank you.

End of line.
