One thing I noticed while going through my powers as a turian sentinel is that overload now does extra damage to barriers in addition to shields, while warp does not.
Now, in single player, my main character is a sentinel as well and I've grown quite accustomed to using warp and overload to deal with all kinds of damage protection. And this isn't a huge deal, but I was just wondering if this was an actual change or just a peculiarity of the multiplayer/demo and if so, why?

It's an actual change. The last evolution of warp allows you to focus on armor(I think) damage, but the ability is best used as a lasting debuff that can be detonated. Decent damage, too. Not a barrier killer anymore, but more versatile in its use.
And no , just because everyone and their grandma uses this section to get their spoiler fix, it doesn't mean you don't ask gameplay questions in the gameplay forum.
