I don't know is because we can?? same reason why some people only use 1 gun? 3 of my friends can do gold with what ever guns or class we want! why? because we choose to play our classes with what ever we want!

i used to go sniper rifle with my asari vanguard (no lift grenade, maxed out everything else. stasis build).. but then I got a Carnifex.

because snipers are overpowered boom-tubes? play anything other than a sniper, while 2 or even all three players of the team use snipers, and you will barely get a kill - unless you walk around on the other side of the map. If you use the carnifex, you get one shot on the target, before the sniper finishes it off. If you use assaultrifles or smgs, you're just f*cked.
In the end that means you get fewer points, and that again results in you being kicked out of many public lobbies, because the snipers don't want to 'carry you.' If you're really lucky, you might even get insulted.
Other than that, sniping is just the easiest thing to do. Many other playstyles require at least a certain skill level to do anything. One-shot killing 80% of the enemies with a shot to the belly requires no skill whatsoever.
