I don't think the issue is that the romance is between two men. The issue is that its awkward and totally ****ing ****. Seriously, the animation is terrible, neither of them are believable, they just had gay sex and Shepard won't look the guy he just boned in the eye. honestly shepard seems like he hates himself for just having had sex.

Nothing really too bad, if you're not into that sort of thing, I promise. Shepard and Steve flirt a bit in a club, Shep dances badly (in real life Steve would have run screaming in the other direction), they kiss. Next scene takes place later, they obviously have sex, but nothing is shown except the aftermath. They have a meaningful conversation in bed. Pretty tame; I like it actually. I'll still romance Kaidan with my male Shepard first, though.

No, action mode is supposed to have fewer dialogue options. Story mode is supposed to have full dialogue options and make the combat really easy.

I'm one of those odd people who fully supports same-sex relationships and gay rights, yet would really rather not actually witness it happening. Fortunately, the advantage of this sort of romance option is that I don't actually have to choose it--so it's no more offensive to me than any of the other ME romances that I have no interest in pursuing.
I didn't want to watch the whole thing regardless, but I watched part of it, and the part that I watched was good. I think it was, anyway. When it comes down to it I don't have much sense for what makes a romance go, hetero or otherwise. Comes from not having gotten too far on the road of love in the real world, I suppose.
