Apparantly this is the cover.
I don't hate it. However, if Desmond's ancestor is Native American, it better focus heavily on Native American culture and customs to draw a good contrast between him and what I assume will be the British Templars. Also he's got to stay away from guns, it's not as fun with them znd removes the challange. The big problem will be the architechture. The country is still being built, what the f**k is he going to climb?

Wow.
I can see how Activision does it with Call of Duty being that they're all shovelware garbage but Assassin's Creed is quality stuff.

How does Ubisoft make so many Assassin's Creed games so quickly? Assassin's Creed Revelations just came out last November for Pete's sakes and now we're getting a sequel less than a year later?

The Art of Rehash
EA, Ubi, Activision all focus heavily on it.

ACIII's been in development for three years, since the team finished ACII. AC:B and AC:R were done by a seperate team. I was skeptical about the development cycle too but they've not had a serious screw up yet.
Anyways...colonial America? Revolutionary War? Native American Assassin? TOMAHAWKS? I'm ****ing sold.

assassins creed 3 has been in development since AC 2 came out, its a different team then the one that made bortherhood and revelations
Nonetheless, the vast majority of the mechanics will be (beyond a reasonable doubt) identical to the predessors. The new stuff will mainly be visuals.

I wouldn't want Assassin's Creed to end up feeling like the Tenchu series or some other generic stealth Ninja game.
I say this has potential but as Android654 pointed out architecture is going to be an issue since America is still a new country at this point.
I could possibly see a more sparse type of environment that takes place in a more natural, mountainous and forest like setting. Lots of places for an assassin to strike there.

Yeah, Maybe the setting will get me interested in playing this one. I haven't even beaten AC2. I hope they have a "Previously on" thing. You CAN'T expect people to buy everyone oneME_Fan wrote...
WOW. I can't believe it, I actually called that one of the games was gonna be set during the War of Independence years ago. Good call. Anyway It'll be a nice change to all the same old boring middle ages/ renaissance. I bought Revelations, and got bored fast.

How in the Hell can the main character be a native American?
Ezio is a European living in the 16th, so unless he travelled to pre-colonial America and nailed a native American woman then there is no way that Ezio's direct descendant can be a native American.
The only other possible explanation is that this character is not an ancestor of Desmond.
There's your mistake. Desmond is descended from Ezio, Altair, and now this third ancestor. Ezio is not descended from Altair and this guy doesn't have to be descended from Ezio. The entire point behind Desmond's importance is that he's the convergence of a whole bunch of different bloodlines, all with eagle vision. All we need is some method for the Assassins to reach the New World, which honestly isn't all that difficult given all the other aspects of the series and the role the pieces of Eden play.
That was very helpful. Thanks.

So is the series going to end with Desmond being an assassin and you going around the modern world? I know nothing about the series story wise. Seems it is progressing to it.
SPOILERS
Well Revelations ends with Ezio's "end" and Desmond is just brought back from the Animus by his father. So the best assumption we can make is it will play out more like I and II. That means connecting with an ancestor and doing some investigation as Desmond into the Templars next move. We know Desmond spent all of his time in NY before getting captured, so we might see this ancestor in NY as well or the NE at least and have it build from there.

I haven't touched Brotherhood in a long time and I never played Revelations.

See this is why it needs a previous on. A lot is going on it seems and you can't expect people to remember or have played them.android654 wrote...

Well Desmond's "cousin" who was captured before him injected files on people throughout history who had POE's during their high points into the Animus. President Washington had his when he began to ascend the ranks in military and eventually became president.

MORE SPOILERS
Well the fake history is for the fansboys like myself. If I'm correct the game might take place in NY with a setting close to the movie Gangs of New York. So there will be buildings but not like Rome or Istanbul. This would include desmond going around present day Manhattan tracking down the clues he finds from his ancestor, which is exactly what happened in ACII and Brotherhood. Also it's a logical place to begin the end of the series. The reveal of his father could mean revealing the present day Brotherhood and 2012 is when the "war" between the Assassins and the Templars is to begin. This is also mirrored in ACR when we see the end of our "old world" at the abuse of POE.

I say this has potential but as Android654 pointed out architecture is going to be an issue since America is still a new country at this point.
I could possibly see a more sparse type of environment that takes place in a more natural, mountainous and forest like setting. Lots of places for an assassin to strike there.
I suspect this particular character is not going to be doing a lot of Parkour type stuff, instead focusing on other stealthy ways. He has a full bow, for instance. Maybe it's going to be more silent stealth, sniping and infiltration. We could get more Thief-like gameplay from this particular installment.
Or, maybe instead that the Revolutionary War is just one step and we'll have several protagonists in different eras of America--with 1776 being the start and maybe jumping timelines.

That's plausible, and with Desmond in 2012 Manhattan, he'll have more than enough buildings to scale.

Being a new numbered game in the series, they'll almost certainly be returning to multiple cities instead of the one big one used for Brotherhood and Revelations.
As for what the Assassin will climb...people, you're aware there were cities, a few quite large, in America at the time, right? New York, Boston, Philadelpha, Baltimore, Savannah, Charleston, and there's a definite possibility we could see Canadian cities as well. Hell, you could even still get your wish and see London, Paris, and Madrid. It all depends on the plot.
And that doesn't include the possibility of expanding the parkour gameplay to include natural objects. At the time much of North America was basically a giant forest.
