"Entirely optional"
Let's hope so, my male hawke was constantly getting sexually harassed by Anders in DA2.
"I really don't see how this sort of content can really offend people"
Oh for god's sake. I've said time and time again, it's not the content that offends me. I am NOT homophobic. You just can't read/comprehend.
It's the diminishing quality of writing, animations, and graphics that offend me most. Everyting was basically pitchblack, and I couldn't see the black guy Shep was talking to, it was a pair of eyes, and i'm not exaggerating. it was a pair of floating eyes. Bioware messed with the contrast to hide bad animations and textures.
What also offends me, is the reasoning behind including the gay scene. Like I said, there is NO artistic merit behind it, it is there not to tell a great love sub-story, it's just there, it seems, because we need 50% straight, and then 50% gay.
Have you got a favourite TV show? or anime? whatever it is, how would you feel if suddenly, everyone became gay? You're not homophobic, it is clear you are not, yet if you saw your favourite character suddenly becoming gay, and kissing and dirty dancing with men, you would feel annoyed.
Yes, but then I hated Anders in DA 2 anyway. That was more of a character side step.
The second part was more general, because of all the offence going about. If you took offence at the general remark then I'm sorry you feel offended. There's too much of that stuff going about.
The "look" of the scene may be attributed to the way shadows seem to work in ME 3, because the kid scene in the demo had my Shep's face completely blacked out when I had shadows turned off. Hopefully this isn't present in the full PC game. After all, you could see Shep's face just fine.
And, again, optional. If it breaks immersion for you then write up about it, make your feelings heard by Bioware. I don't know how much they'll bother to listen of course, because every time they say the listen to the fans I wonder who exactly they listen to.
FInally, it's completely different to a TV show or any other medium, in that the protagonist is who you choose to portray them as. Now if Castle suddenly said he had the hots for Esposito all along I'd probably burn the TV, because
that is story breaking, but Shep coming out as gay is within the allowances of the story in a sense, because the story is what you choose (relatively speaking, apparently we may have another DA 2 on our hands, but a week will tell).
and to those saying Shep was getting it on with space women for the past 2 games, and now all of a sudden he's gay. No he's not! Choosing to boogie with the women is your choice, choosing men is also your choice. You can't say that Shep was all for the ladies in the past 2 games, and then now because you can
CHOOSE to be with a man he's suddenly fully gay. That is just... nonsense. And I suggest you go sit in the naughty corner to think on it before coming back to speak untruths.
