Mass Effect had always two options normally. The thing was, in ME1 they always put three to give you the illusion of choice when most of the time some of them were the same. In ME2 that didn't happen as often or at all. ME3 follows the same path probably.

The script being old, the choices, everything. You remeber all the marketing they did about your choices have a big effect?

Yeah. In that TV ad from 2007.

Yeah, and all the marketing leading up to ME2 and 3. They kept saying your choices matter. They don't, they have no effect.

I would be surprised if there are any 'hubs' at all like ME1 and a bit of ME2 to walk around and talk to people. It will be just ACTION, ACTION ACTION to try and get all the call of doody fans to buy ME3. Bioware seem to be forgetting more and more their loyal fans and ditching them for fickle casual's. Bioware in steep decline.

Hey, Señor Hardcore Fan? There's a Normandy Tour and a big darn-tooting thread with information on Locations that you missed while being so hardcore, amigo.

The thing you should be worried about is that alot squad members got the Zaeed/Kasumi dialogue treatment.

Oh, yeah, I remember when the last guy said that about ME2. When asked with a source, they managed to find one that said "Your import choices affect ME2". As for ME3, I'm more inclined to believe people who have actually played the game or reviewers (when they'll come), than your opinion of a product you haven't even touched the cover of yet. Sorry. :wizard:

Hey casual, has it occured to you that i might not want things spoiled? I have no interest in watching vids as i want to find everything out myself in my playthrough. But casual, Bioware's recent record has shown them ditching their loyal fanbase for more casual's like yourself with FLASHY BANG action.

No. And we know that from actual sources, from people who played the game. Again, what are your sources?

Then from what, does it 'seem', then? Extremelly vivid daydreaming? Surely a hardcore fan ought to be better informed?

Well, I started playing BioWare games since KOTOR which was quite streamlined, so yeah, I suppose I am casual. And I get catered to. I'm not particularly sad or angry about that. =]

Wow, if that is true then Bioware are really giving it to their loyal fans big time, that is disgusting if true. Less conversation, more FLASHY BANG sequences for the call of doody fans. Bioware in steep decline.

But the original "Call of Duty" was often described as the "drama queen of shooters". Am I missing something here?

If this is true then I'm just going to friken cry. Bioware has mostly had great companions for their games and I have always look foward to interacting with them and learning their backstories.

COD 4 was really rather good, I think most people are talking about MW2 and after that.

This better not be true...

Having said that, I think I'll not boycott the game over rumours and wait until next week to see for myself.

Was really hoping the lack of dialogue in the demo was because it was a noob tutorial. Well, guess I shall prepare for playing my shiny new CE of Gears of Mass Effect.

I know. I am being sarcastic. People just love jumping into bandwagons.

I consider COD 1-4 among my favorite shooters, and it is widely known that they are among the first shooters to introduce story as heavily as they did.  I wonder how many people have actually played the COD series.

Yup it looks like Bioware are ditching what made them great and becoming another generic FLASHY BANG action game developer. Bioware in steep decline.

Also, with regard to the first 30 minutes to an hour of the game, that's not surprising. It's a pretty linear and railroaded story until you get to the Citadel anyway...

Yes and no. Beginning of ME2 you wake up on a space station overrun with homicidal mechs and, while you're getting shot at, you still have time to question Jacob as to what the H*** is going on. Point was, if a player wanted to ask questions, they could.

The point is, a glorified tutorial plus a second mission that's still establishing the opening of the story can't be used as an absolute measuring stick for a 30-40 hour long game.

That's true, except people said the same thing about the DA2 demo, and look how that turned out. :(

Honestly, I know it doesn't sound like it, but I'm pysched about ME3. I'm also keeping my expectations in check, though. Better to be a pessimist and be surprised than an optimist who is disappointed.

First point about ME2. That's nice and all ... but this isn't ME2. It's a different intro and opening to the story and they choose to go a different route. As I said, there are some instances where they led to the same general thing anyway and many cases where three options don't make sense. "You ready to move out Commander?" "Yes"/"Not yet" ... and a third pointless option would be, what? "Hmm, well, I think I'll slowly walk in that direction til I make up my mind."

Also, this isn't one of those "what the h*** is going on?" moments. We didn't just wake up from a 2-year nap. We know who the enemy is and they're blowing crap up. Not the best time to sit and have a chat. Ultimately, I'm not concerned due to the sheer volume of dialogue. There will be choices and options. Most of the people who play pick a Paragon or Renegade path and stick to it anyway, thus eliminating the middle choice. But since that middle choice is no longer there, they act like they always used it and they're being betrayed that it's gone. It will be there plenty over the course of the game, trust me.

Finally, the previous poster mentioned that in a lot of cases, the investigate option is still there. If you want to find out what's going on, it's not like every conversation will just have two options on the right and no investigate options over and over. We will all be fine. We will not implode if some conversations don't have 814 options to pick.

I am psyched for ME3 and will enjoy it for what it is. What I won't do is get worked up over something small like 30% or something (completely random guess) of the conversations having two distinctly different choices instead of two different ones and one that's pretty similar to one or the other anyway.

Also, for the record, DA2 wasn't the complete disaster most people on here act like it was. Sure, the story wasn't great and I got tired of the same places over and over but the companion characters were decently entertaining and the combat just destroyed DA:O if you ask me. I played through both games twice and the combat was leaps and bounds better in DA2 IMO. The story and setting of DA:O was infinitely better though, yes.

I'm sorry, but we're trusting this OP's "sources" while at the same time he created account about 2 months ago with no game registered?

I think BSN is getting too trustworthy over this "sources".

I played 1 and parts of 4, they were really rather good, though I usualy just stuck with Halo.

Honestly though from MW2 on the story was horrible to non exsistant and is also when it became the most popular, so I think a lot of people are afraid that is happening to their RPG.

Well, other people have agreed.  And it fits with the demo.
