even the "Holy Grail of Video Games" (Mass Effect 1)

You misspelled "KOTOR"

Most of the people on here seem to have never played it. I only ever see references to Mass Effect 1 when reading about Bioware's supposed downfall.

Eh, more than you might think have made it through the series. This is Bioware after all. Personally, it's my holy grail of Bioware games. Image IPB

KotOR fan reporting for duty!

Bioware still delivers in my books.:D

KOTOR is what got me into RPG's so it's up there in the pantheon of games for me.

Likewise. I was 13 when I first played it. And coincedentally it's my favorite Bioware game. It's difficult to tell how much nostalgia is impacting my judgment on that front, but it still remains in my top 5 games of all time.

Your all wrong it is Shattered Steel and I am still outraged BioWare stabbed their true and original fans in the back to make RPGs. Ewww nerds who do math all day and enjoy spreadsheet gaming.

Think I will wait till I have a few playthrus going to see how the conversations really stack up.

Guess the Reapers invaded the game and took out the RPG mode for real

According to a vid I saw on ign yesterday you get more options in dialogue if you've made an import as opposed to if you're starting out with ME3.

A poor excuse, especially since a new game still has a protagonist who has a history of two games even if the player hasn't played them.

except people who buy only the third game in a trilogy don't give a **** about details like that...

way too soon? when did kotor 2 was released?..just because The old Republic mmorpg shows some stuff about the old kotor games doesnt has to make a connection exactly thew the single player games. although they forced it to be that way yet again its not exactly like that. :wizard:

Sorry, should have been more clear. With TOR released, the likelihood of KotOR 3 is looking minimal. I was saying "too soon" to think about the pain. Image IPB

i still has hope for kotor 3 yes i still do after so many years. :wizard:

Yup it looks like Bioware are ditching what made them great and becoming another generic FLASHY BANG action game developer. Bioware in steep decline.

I highly doubt that you have any idea what made Bioware great in that pathetic mind of yours.

Reported. Unacceptable personal attack under the new forum rules.

Are you just trying to get people pissed off so you can report them? Because that is sorta what it looks like.

Nope just stating my opinion, but unfortunately if you are not a Biodrone on this board you are seen as scum.

Reported for an unwanted attack.

Who was i attacking? Which person was i referring to? No one in particular at all. Fail by you i am afraid.

The players don't write the story, the writers do. so any lack of story falls to the writers not the new players.

Threatning people with "reported" is a form of aggresion.

Most moderators/staff will repremand you for doing it. That button isn't there to be you're own personal weapon of intimidation; it's a tool to better the community and help moderate.

because loyal fans will complain they didn't get any treatment.

Actually if the game had only 2 choices every time and they actually mattered/led to different results then we'd already have more than ever before. Honeslty, I don't really need 3 or more options if I just get the same answer thing. It's called the 'illusion of choice'. While fine at times, it is getting frustrating if you keep clicking options and try to do something different just to realize what you did first time was the only thing you could have done anyway.

There is no "Illusion of choice" In ME3.

One choice has a MASSIVE impact for a whole species fate; several others take more choices but get similar results.

And romances shouldn't just be about whether you're in or out.  Even if it's just the option to be either flirty or heartfelt in saying "yes", it's still valuable.

I agree. I loved how in LotSB, you could either tease Liara ("Make me an offer") or be romantic ("Done"). Both did the same thing in the end, had the same effect game-wise... but it truly showed a difference in how your Shep was as a person.

Those who worried about choice need not worry in ME3...

there are deep effects to certain choices.

If by "deep effect" you mean one arc plays out a little differently, then yeah.

They clearly made decisions in this chapter that override your earlier ones, so there's no reason to assume that now they'll remove that.

So we're no longer discussing the quality of the writing?

Massive impact =/= different cutscene. Having a button that kills every spieces that only results in a something like a different text epilogue, isn't really an impact.

Massive impact would include alternative quests, different characters etc (like The Witcher 2). The fact that an entire species is wiped out makes no difference to me since there's barely any actual ingame gameplay consequences.

The fact that you KNOW they're wiped out isn't really an impact since there's no ingame content about that.
Take KOTOR for example. The major choice is made in the last half hour of the game. Whether you become ruler or savior of the galaxy makes no difference since besides a different cutscene, there's no ingame gameplay consequences

Had KOTOR 2 been finished as planned it would have changed video gaming history.

As I said in the other thread, just because I don't want to be a Paragon in that conversation it does not mean I want to be a dick.

Certain endings as well.

You're not gonna have a completely different game for crying out loud.
