Good news - Later today (March 1, 2012), we'll be releasing our third major update to Dragon Age II across all platforms. Full details and the download link will be posted on our patch page as Patch 1.04.

This one's smaller than our previous two, clocking in at around 25 fixes. Some of these address critical issues such as crashes or save game corruptions while others simply add to or improve the Dragon Age experience, unlocking a bunch of new follower banters in our Legacy DLC, for instance, or offering better handling of ambient audio when switching between followers.

Note that the BioWare Social Network will be experiencing some unrelated maintenance tonight. The timing's a little unfortunate as it will temporarily limit your ability to comment here on the self-help forums. That said, we decided it was best to release the patch today regardless.

Here are the full cross-platform patch notes - enjoy!:

Dragon Age II 1.04

GAMEPLAY
  • The effect of the Sunder ability now persists properly when saving and loading the game.

QUESTS (SPOILER WARNING)
  • When Isabela is present in "Magistrate's Orders", Bethany no longer receives incorrect friendship or rivalry points for resolving Kelder's fate.
  • In "Magistrate's Orders", Carver now receives +5 frienship if Fenris kills Kelder or +10 friendship if the player does so.
  • Isabela no longer has a plot marker in the post-game save if the player failed to complete "No Rest for the Wicked".
  • Aveline's head no longer vibrates in "Finders Keepers" when conversing with the warehouse guard.

FUNCTIONALITY
  • Players who choose not to log in will no longer be presented with recurring Lost Connection errors.
  • Certain ambient audio no longer cuts in and out when switching between characters.

DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT - "THE EXILED PRINCE"
  • Sebastian's plot marker, if present, is now removed when bringing him into other downloadable content.

DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT - "LEGACY"
  • Players are no longer able to re-use the Memento of Legacy to access the Legacy downloadable content multiple times in a single playthrough.
  • Players now receive an item reward when completing "Malcolm's Honor" with Carver in the party.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing close to 200 banter lines between Hawke and the followers not to fire.
  • Fixed a case where certain follower banter wouldn't appear when playing from a post-game save.
  • Isabela's romance banter now properly checks to see if the player is still eligible for romance with her.
  • Fenris's romance banter now properly checks to see if Fenris and the player slept together but have not yet made up in Act 3.
  • A ghostly Bethany no longer joins in conversations from beyond the grave.
  • Sebastian and Anders no longer talk about Bethany or Carver as if they're not present.
  • Carver no longer mentions his and Hawke's mother after her death.

DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT - "MARK OF THE ASSASSIN"
  • We have fixed a save-game corruption issue that was occurring for a small number of users in the autosave immediately following the dungeon capture scene.

PC/MAC-SPECIFIC FUNCTIONALITY
  • Players can now disable the snap feature for area-of-effect attacks by holding the 'shift' key.
  • Improved resource loading and memory handling in conversation to address sporadic crashes occurring for some users. The bulk of the resulting crashes were occurring in the conversation after the Isabela sex scene in Hawke's Estate and a conversation with Aveline in the Viscount's Keep, after she was promised the job as Captain.
  • Improved handling of login, messaging, and authentication during periods of server disruption.

XBOX 360-SPECIFIC FUNCTIONALITY
  • Improved resource loading and memory handling in conversation to address sporadic crashes occurring for some users. The bulk of the resulting crashes were occurring in the conversation after the Isabela sex scene in Hawke's Estate and a conversation with Aveline in the Viscount's Keep, after she was promised the job as Captain.
  • Triggered autosaves now number themselves correctly, ensuring that they're correctly loaded when players choose to "Reload last save".
  • Sebastian no longer gets stuck as a locked party member after the completion of his quests.
  • Save games will now load properly after switching between Xbox profiles.

PS3-SPECIFIC FUNCTIONALITY
  • Sebastian no longer gets stuck as a locked party member after the completion of his quests.

Only PC players (non-Steam) are required to download the patch manually from our patches page. For the rest of you, the page is just a good place to review the patch notes. For Mac users in particular, the patch will auto-download and install for you when you launch the game (assuming you're logged in / connected).

Sorry if my initial instructions caused any confusion. =o(

Re:  Patches for the Mac versions of Dragon Age I and II

Dear Customer Service:

I have been unable to download the patches for Dragon Age I and II for the past couple of weeks, perhaps because I have a slow DSL internet connection.  The download shows partially complete, and then an error message, and then game begins without being updated with the patch.  The forums on the internet have complaints from other customers regarding the same issue.  The solution would be to supply the patches in the form of *.dmg downloadable files, rather than rely upon the built-in downloader.

I have never been able to log-in to the support e-mail page at:

http://customersuppo...ginapp/login.do

My account e-mail address and password are correct, but there is no way to log-in.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Could someone please please tell me where/which discussion/forum topic Bioware or representative is likely to post to when the DA2 activation issue is resolved so I can subscribe to it?

Had quite enough of going through tiers of EA's inept customer support and wasting time attempting to activate the game and trawling the forums trying to second guess where its likely to appear.

Bioware game support link takes me to EA home page. Bioware Email us link - again EA home page.  EA website help pages has zero searchability for DA2 and any of its issues - its like the game just doesn't exist for them.  All that comes up is a load of help for Spore ME3 etc etc.

Thank you!

Dragon Age 2 v1.04 for Mac finally loaded and running. System MacOS X.7.5, MacPro (2010)

Just tried to install DA2, bought the combo pack from Amazon, DA-Origins, Awakening and 2. Installed DAO and DAOA a while back and started playing, just finished them and decided to now install DA2. It installed but it's version 1.0. When I started the app it springs open but the screen doesn't change, it doesn't give me the launch window like DAO does. Then I notice when I tried DA2 again only the word "play" was showing up on my screen (where the launch window would be) when I tried to click on it, it would do nothing, click whatever was behind it.

Figured I needed an update, found it, and yes it's an .exe file, read on the forum the answer from Bio "For Mac users in particular, the patch will auto-download and install for you when you launch the game (assuming you're logged in / connected)." which is great if you can get to the window to log in. Then with DA2 sitting in this ghost-launch window I opened DAO and logged in. When I "Command-Tab"ed back over to DA2, other parts of the launch window showed up: "Support", "Website", "Readme", and "Exit". This time when I clicked "Play", it responded and a small window opened notifying me that there is an update available, of course I said download and it did. Now it's saying validation error, displaying a window with an area to enter my validation code which was already displayed in the text field, but it was just the numbers and letters so I re-entered the key adding the "-" dashes (00OO-00OO-00OO-OOOO-OOOO) and it validated.

It now seems to be working fine.

Hope this helps.
