Sigh.. I remember that line. Damnit bioware. I'll just pretend ME2 was the end of the series, and make up my own ending.

I just don't understand. Why would they put lines like that in the game and do this?

Because they're evil!

**** it I'll just choose the synergy ending, and hope for the best. If I even decide to get this game. At the very least Joker can get a nice ending. :(

Apparently, romanced Garrus has a line saying he wants to "retire somewhere warm and tropical" with Shepard. The writers clearly hate us.

Well that planet where he and Tali slowly starve to death is apparently warm and tropical...

And I never even romanced Garrus....

I'm afraid he did actually.  Check out the forum again.  He even posted a chart recently that shows, based on what you choose in the game and your readiness, who walks out of the crashed Normandy in the end (along with a host of other things).

Can anyone link to this chart, please?

What makes you think the planet isn't dextro-based?

Well. In the "Merge" ending, they become half organic half synthetics.
I guess they don't need food.

Shep: "I dunno. Marriage, old age, and a lot of little blue children?"

Bioware: "LOLNOPE!"

Seriously, I know this thread contributes nothing but I just loved that line, that idea that somewhere in the multiverse there's my Shep and Liara living happily for the rest of Shep's life.

I guess subscribing to the multiverse theory there's also a Mass Effect with an ending I'd enjoy watching and one where Shepard is just a massive Goldfish... Goddamnit Bioware.

That was just an intimate, sweet joke between Shep and Liara, nothing more.
during the epilogue of LotSB it's pretty clear that both Shepard and Liara have little hope of getting out of this story unscarred and to live happily ever after.
To be honest the more I think about the endings, the more I get convinced that bioware made the right move by chosing them instead of the butterflies epilogues.
This is not Walt disney after all.

Maybe, but the Organic parts of them will need sustinance of some sort to function, heal, and do other organicy stuff like that. They better hope they're solar powered.

You know the more I think about it the more I see that the merge/synergy option is the best one there. I mean with this option there's a chance no one will starve to death, they'll have super intelligence, and be able to start a new galactic society significantly faster that if they just themselves. Plus I'm sure they'll look pretty badass after the change.

Thats it. I've decided that Synergy/Merge is the only good ending to this game.

I think it's control since you might be able to get the relays back.

Umm so can some one clarify something for me?

At the end of ME3 Liara and Shepard are trapped on 2 separate planets and the mass relays destroyed?

Is it at all possible that Liara can be with Shep at the end?

And can some one Please TELL ME What happens to Samara? Damnit I'm sorry I'm on the verge of a mental breakdown, I'm gonna start crying.
If you read about a man in the state of South Dakota who ends up in a nut hut after finishing Mass Effect 3, Chances are it is me. I'm so sad, I'm gonna cry and scream, and, and, and WHY?

Bioware You made Mass Effect and than you decided to destroy what was to be the greatest achievement in Video Game Story Telling at the end WHY?

You weave your spell, your eyes they beckon me
Your lips they speak, lies and misery
I know it's wrong, but I can't turn away
The flames draw near, they're telling me to stay

Well I'm glad that one of my characters can be happy..Mirandamancer for the win.

For the rest of it I'm just going to totally ignore the fact my LI is for some reason teleported to the Normandy and is instead on Earth.

Samara..she goes to Thessia and you can either kill her as she doesn't want to kill her own daughter or you can convince her against the code. I read though she goes back to Thessia as a last stand with the other Justicars and most likely dies but who knows.

Liara's last words before the final battle.

Liara:"I do have one thing for you, Shepard. A gift. It will only take a moment if you want it."

"Memories. I can show you some of my consciousness. What you look like to me. Asari exchange them sometimes with good friends, or their bondmates. It can also be a way to say farewell."

I've always thought that. There's also this: the civilizations emerging from the Synthesis willl have the complete knowledge of the Reapers at their disposal. And if there's any truth to the claim that they preserved the "essence" of the Reaperized species, the experience of millions of years of sapient life.

But to get to the topic: I agree it's outright sadistic to give us these hopeful lines in the conversations and then no way to get, if not a happy end, at the least an ending open enough that we can imagine there might be some happiness in the future.

Well, the Synthesis is the best ending to get to that, too. If in a giant conflagration of space magic, all life in the galaxy can be turned part-synthetic, a much smaller amount of space magic can posit that Shepard's identity will be preserved through the Synthesis, with all sorts of interesting stories coming after.

Bioware has spoken, the best ending is where everyone dies because the only way to win is to die apparently.

Post-credit dialogue from Liara:

"Ok. One person at a time. Draw lots. EDI do the tracking please. Declare any STDs you have now. I'm gonna be doing this for the next 500 years so don't ****** me off. Make me come first. Once everyone's done we'll start with the first guy again. Label the kids when they're born too so I know who's their own grandpa."
