This is a really great way to get people to like Origin.

What with all the monumental bad rep its been getting, might as well be consistent.

there is not a single game release i have not been able to walk into walmart the day of release in the morning and buy off the shelf.

head to your local supercenter and you will be fine worst case senario

I normally wouldn't fret but this is the CE we're talking about... I've checked everywhere and then some (online and otherwise) and am met with the same immediate response of "sorry we're out".  No doubt a few might end up back on the shelves, but EA was obviously short-sighted in their demand forecast... here in Canada, anyway.

I'm from Toronto, Canada and I just received an email letting me know that my order has shipped via UPS and gave me a tracking number.

So it has nothing to do with Canada.

I had originally place my pre-order in January.

Shipped?!?! What platform is this for?

I don't know about DarksunX, but my order was for a PC CE. My order is shipped and is tracking.

Dunno what to say to the unlucky ones about the lack of help from Origin's customer support. If this pre-order issue is really widespread, then it's possible their call centre is overwhelmed, I guess. I started calling in at the start of the month and found that my order had issues with it - issues that were quickly solved - but it's possible that my order is secure now only because I happened to get to the bottom of things early.

If all the ones who got there CE of Mass Effect where in Quebec, here is a quote from a futur shop online store: Quebec Shipping Restrictions
Currently, our suppliers and/or manufacturers are only providing this product in English which is not in compliance with the Quebec language legislation. Therefore, it is not available for shipping within the province of Quebec. Customers within Quebec may still purchase this product as long as it is shipped to a province outside of Quebec.
Vive le Quebec libre....what a joke

Nice to see the language police are on the job. Typical. I thought there was a french localisation on the disc, is that still not enough for the francophone hardliners?

@Reapinger: Like Locutus-of-BORG, mines a PC copy.

^ Yeah because EA doesn't have one of its largest offices in downtown Montreal and hasn't had an eternity to get Quebec language laws figured out. I really don't want to think that there aren't any French Collector's Editions available in Quebec... it's just too cringe-worthy.

After Amazon up and cancelled my CE of The Old Republic a few weeks before release, I stopped trying to pre-order physical copies of things from online retailers.

It's almost like EA's doing it's best to screw Bioware , is Bioware planning to break away from EA ? This is complete BS on EA's part , whoever the coordinators are for retailers they need to be fired.

I'm in Montreal, and ordered my CE from an EB Games (within actual sight of the EA offices). I'll stop by tomorrow afternoon and check to make sure everything is cool for Tuesday.

Order got cancelled as well: PS3 CE and I am from Quebec as well :(

After talking to support:

I would like to inform you that please wait for 24-48 hr and these order would automatically instate after that time.

If it's language related, we can do a class action lawsuit. The law only applies to physical stores, and not what is shipped. Unless they managed to ninja a new law in past year...

It's unlikely BioWare is going to leave EA anytime soon.  They went to EA, not the other way around, so they must've felt doing so was in the company's best interest.

Back to the issue at hand... it seems that the cancellations are limited to the Collector's Edition and Quebec.  Many of you have stated you're from Montreal; I'd be interested in knowing if anyone here from Quebec City has had the same issues.

It doesn't seem like an Eastern vs Western Canadian problem, since someone here from Toronto said their order is fine.  I'm from British Columbia, and as far as I know, my order is also okay (although I didn't bother with the Collector's Edition).

I got that e-mail too. I'm Québec as well (Montréal suburbs). I hate this province sometimes...

I just talked to a guy from EA help and he says they are working to correct the problem and my order will not be cancelled. I'm kind of freaking out though, wondering if I should do a pre-order at a B&M store and cancel my Origins order for real...

You guys are making me nervous. My friend and I pre-ordered our physical copies from Origins at the same time and she received her shipping notification yesterday. I wonder if it makes any difference that she got hers for PC and I for Xbox.

Regardless I did a live support chat and was told my order was "in process" so here's hoping they get their stuff sorted and this is all some easily fixed technical thing.

edit: should mention  from Toronto, Canada.

  •  A small recap:
The problem seems to occur for the people who have ordered a
physical copy of Mass Effect 3 for the Xbox360 in Quebec.

Unsure if this only affects people who pre-ordered the N7 edition or all.
A theory brought up by FritzGuy:

Ah, yes, "Canada." A mythical region north of us that wants to play our game. We have dismissed that claim.

More like people are complaining that their collectors editions that they pre-ordered months ago are suddenly being cancelled without reason.

Try reading the posts in the thread before typing next time.

Back on topic. I hope the OP and the rest of you get this resolved, having my pre-ordered CE cancelled would be very disappointing and is something I always worry about.

I think the issue might be that there are no bilingual versions of the CE, it's either French or English, with the English version apparently having problems being shipped to Quebec when ordering online (this is my guess).

Jagpferd: do you know if it was explicitly the French version of the CE that you ordered on Origin?

sigh... the hoops we have to jump through in this province to get Bioware products. Didn't we have a similar issue with Mass Effect 2?

North of us? You realize that ME3 was made in Bioware Edmonton... which is IN Canada...
