I don't think you can even choose a version. I didn't have that option when I ordered mine. It wasn't specified whether it was French or not. So I guess it was automatically English which would explain the kerfuffle with Future Shop and whatnot?

This brings up a more serious problem: if you go in a brick and mortar store, they probably will have the same problem and will take your pre-order money but won't in the end receive the copies?

Like I said, I can't get myself to believe there are no French versions of the CE for Quebec.  I think it's more likely that they produced a ridiculously small amount of them, and to play it safe, made an equal amount of English versions available solely for Quebec.  I don't recall seeing a French option on Origin either (probably available in-store only), so likely any orders to Quebec over and above their French quota are being cancelled.

None of this is confirmed and I'm still waiting for a supervisor to call (of course), but this scenario seems too likely to me.  In the end, I just don't get how a company is allowed to establish itself in Quebec and benefit from all kinds of tax incentives, and then treat Quebec customers like second-class citizens.  You're in a French province, get over it.  Produce a quantity of your products that reflects the size of the market (which is NOT small), and stop penalizing anglophones that happen to live here.

Looking forward to know what they have to say. I used live chat with EA support and I was assured I would get my copy "soon", whatever that means... and I'm not sure if I believe it or not.

Yeah you leave your number and should get a call within 15-20 minutes... and, to be fair, the representatives are from this side of the planet and sound reasonable (I had 3 call me back-to-back since I spammed my request >_> ).  Looking forward to your update.

I've yet to hear back from them... the confirmations people are getting here (problem will be resolved) are news to me. What the rep did concede is that it should not have been cancelled and he even checked if the rep that was handling my ticket (e-mail support) might have cancelled it... but that wasn't it. He then escalated the case and I'm waiting for a call. As of now, I don't know exactly why it was cancelled... but I have my suspicions.

Where'd you order from? I preordered from ebgames.ca and haven't heard anything from them yet. It's still in my order history and gives me the option to cancel it, so I'm pretty sure it's still in their system, but it hasn't shipped yet.

With all this trouble around the CE edition in Quebec, I'm getting more than a little nervous

There wasn't any option to chose a language and to answer the other question. I ordered off of origin.

Hopefully for everybody having problems its simply a bug in their systems!

Funny, given how said game originates from a studio located in the most mythical region of said mythical region.


But really, the impression I got from all the EA tech guys I've talked to is that Origin is a real mess. I feel pretty fortunate to be one of the lucky few whose orders seem to be okay. I think the best you guys can do is to make sure you have all the info in order on your end and just keep hassling EA about it.

Alright, fellow Canadians. I come with disappointing news. This is only for Montreal, because I have only asked there, but I figure the situation might be the same.

I went to GameBuzz and they told me that they would not be able to get ANY Collector's Edition. My guess is that their franchise isn't viewed as "important enough" to receive CE's.

I then went to EBGames and I was told that there were no issues with shipping or languages or anything like that, just that they were only going to get a handful of copies and they had all been pre-ordered months back. I have been told to come early in the morning, do the line-up and hope that they had extra copies of it.

I then went to Future Shop in hopes of validating the language issue that is pointed out on their website and the guy there didn't know JACK about the situation. Didn't know if they were going to get any copies of the CE, but he told me if they were going to, I'd have to come in bright and early on Tuesday, because it's on a "first come, first served" basis.

All this information is regarding any and all versions of the game. There doesn't seem to be a French/English issue as far as the employees knew, and it seems like it's just because Bioware or the manufacturers have not made enough copies I guess.

TLDR: So my options are: get through phone customer support (for which I'm in line right now) and/or hope for the best and grab a copy early tuesday morning at Future Shop if they ended up stocking them.

FOLLOW UP:

I have contacted customer support through telephone, and I have good news. First of all, anyone with the same issue (Collector's Edition being cancelled) SHOULD CALL because it is the only way the issue will get addressed.

After having talked to a rep, he told me it was a common issue and that he would forward my information to his higher-ups, so that the order could be refreshed and I would receive my order (ideally) on time. At this point I don't care about when it comes in, but I want it to come in.

I have been told to look at my e-mail inbox to get confirmation of this. As of yet I haven't received a thing.

TLDR: Call support using the "Call Back" method, arm yourself with patience (I spent a lot of time on hold) My case number has been now closed by the EA rep and I am waiting for an email confirmation.

Same problem for me (in montreal also) : preordered the CE from origin back in june and they sent an email yesterday stating the order was cancelled. I've talked to the phone support and they assured me they would fix the issue and a copy would be shipped somehow as soon as possible (?!?)

ok. so I can finally post after 24H of reading and trying to get hold of someone...

Like most of the others here I am in Montreal and ordered online the Xbox 360 Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector Edition on Origin.

And yes I know I pre-ordered pretty late.
But origin still had a few CE available last month and that is why I pre-ordered one on their site.

Like most of the others here I received an email yesterday saying that my order was cancelled.

So I contacted the online support.
Here is the transcript of the conversation:

Note: I never received the transcript by email.
I was cautious enough to actually make a copy of it myself...

So that guy got no clue what was goign on.
And I had to ask 5 times why my order was cancelled without my aknowledgement.

After that I decided to wait a bit and found this forum that I have been reading since yesterday (registered and waited the 24H limit)

Today I call the support at the number the guy gave me.

The woman I talked to told me that Visa actually refused to pay.
So I called Visa and they told me that no one had tried to take any money from my card and been refused (like never) And they if that had happened they would know it and could tell me.

So back to calling support (with my case number that I got from the first call).
This time I get a guy.
He goes a bit deeper and finds that there was more pre-order than actually available.
So all the last pre-orders go cut.
I would understand in my case. but guys who ordered last year should not have been cut if that was really the case...
And it would not only happen in montreal...

So he told me to re-order.
I told him that ordering the CE this late was impossible.
So he said he would escalate the issue and that someone else would call me.

Looks like I missed the call.
For some reason my iphone is in front of me but did not ring.
I checked it just before writing all of this and someone actually called.
So now I am calling them back and waiting.

Hey everyone I to ordered a Copy of Mass Effect 3 N7 CE for Xbox 360 from Origin on January 16 and am from Montreal Quebec aswell. Yeah I know I ordered a little late but in any case after recieveing an email early morning on march 1, I decieded to call in and see what was up. After talking to a rep he said he couldn't find any reason why it had been cancelled and that he would look into it. He said they had had the same problem with SW: The OId Republic during its lauch and apprarently they all recieved a copy in the end. The only difference with that is that this happend with SW:TOR and its standard editions. Where as now its seems to be happening with the CE which are high in demand. Either way I began to investigate futher. I stumbled upon Bestbuy.ca and read this little side note for pre-ordering Mass Effect 3 N7 CE and it read :

"Currently, our suppliers and/or manufacturers are only providing this product in English which is not in compliance with the Quebec language legislation. Therefore, it is not available for shipping within the province of Quebec. Customers within Quebec may still purchase this product as long as it is shipped to a province outside of Quebec."

This could explain why the people from Quebec's copies were cancelled. Although it does not seem to be affecting people who ordered from Ebgame.ca (Liber320). In this case people from Quebec should have been notified that they could not order Mass Effect 3 N7 CE becasue of the legislation issue. Instead we are left 4 days before the lauch to muck around with poor customer service and hope that are orders are reactivated. Ill admit it doesnt look good and our best option is to go early morning to EBgames/Future Shop/Best Buy and try and get a copy that way. Best of luck to all Mass Effect fans. fingers crossed we get reactivated soon!

It's just odd that the language thing only happened with Future Shop and Best Buy... It just seems odd that EBGames/GameStop would still be selling it regardless of the issue.

And the fact that none of the employees knew about the language issue bothers me.
