That article is a great summation. Once again I wanted and hoped for so much more from this panel and once again I was left disappointed. At least the cosplayers were cooln0ebert wrote...

I have been reading that developers from other companies are basically making it sound like you caved to the demands of your fans. I have also read that it seems to be a small fear in the development community that once you open up changing things for Mass Effect that it may sprinkle down to the rest of the other companies. However I say this to those developers who are saying such things, you are NOT creating games like Mass Effect.
I am an older gamer, I am tired of the run and gun games which have flooded the market. I am tired of the Mid-Evil role playing games, and I am tired of online multiplayers with no depth. Mass Effect appeals to older gamers like me. I want immersion; I want to craft my protagonist to not just aimlessly run through the zones and have everything narrated to me(One sided Story). But to be completely involved in everything or everyone that surrounds him/her. Each game that was released felt like a continuation of my favorite television series. I remembered characters from previous episodes, and they remembered me. I am sure that this level of immersion is harder to develop. But please don't give up on the format. You have untapped gold here that not many other developers are touching on, if any even are. I am glad you guys had the “stones” to even try.
Mass Effect has "Grit," it has "Drama," some decisions have "Deep Consequences," it has love, loss, friendships and betrayals. I am willing to bet that you guys came down to a time limit and had to sacrifice things in order to meet the deadline. I admit that I was a little taken back by the ending. But it did not change my love for the series. And the fact that you are taking your work into your own hands and making additions to bring some closure on Shepard’s story arch for the fans is truly remarkable. Hell, I’ll even say that I have a new level of respect for Bioware as a whole.
People are going to have bad things to say about this post regardless. Some will call me a Bioware fanboy, and some will call me some derogatory names. Honestly, I don't care. Thanks for a hell of a ride, and thanks for caring enough to offer the DLC. The fact is that you didn't have to make any of it free. But regardless I have a feeling the ME universe has just begun to unfold.

The Mass Effect games have been the only games I've ever purchased from Bioware, for that I am now grateful. Mass Effect 3 marked the 1st time I've ever pre-ordered a game, the N7 Collector's Edition no less. I was really friggin' pumped about this game. I didn't get my game until well after I started seeing threads pop up EVERYWHERE about how crap the endings were. I still kept up the faith. Now, looking back, I really wish I had just canceled my damn order and gotten back my $80+ dollars which I can never get back because, like my copies of ME1 and ME2, are all for PC.
This game ended up being a friggin' jip.
Thanks alot, Bioware.

Because so much of this game raised the bar so high, it is a shame where you took and ending it. I do find many things to love still. If I were at PAX East I think I would have to say something instead of pretending it wasn't there...but in a respectful, constructive manner of course.
You gave us Tali and Garrus as romance choices because fans wanted that. If people dug in back in those early days, for artistic integrity, etc...I would have missed possibly the most wonderful voice actress work, and easily the best romances/in-depth side stories in the whole series with Tali. This would be caving in too according to other game companies or fans more of the company than the story and game itself. Sometimes your best friends are not the ones giving you the easy advice. The ones who love you no matter what, are good for morale but not a very good compass. Not talking the pure obvious haters..many of those who had issues with the ending here gave a step by step, logical account of why the ending was broken...yeah I;m sure you;re tired of hearing this. I am human too, I get it. Its must be pretty tough there in BioWare right now.
...anyways, I hope your ending patch gets the effort it deserves, not some minimum glazing over. My personal wish is that it has some life in it, such as what made most of this game come to life. Hire some of the voice talent please to have some of the surviving characters (on the garden planet) respond...love interest seems pretty key. Don;t know what the end plan is, but some text running over a few generic battle scenes would seem to be out of touch with the magnitude of the hot water you are in with a "majority"...not minority of the fans.
I will keep and ear to the ground. I will give it a chance. I can see how much effort you put into this amazing game mostly (except poor ending choices and free-stock-photo reveal of Tali's face). Maybe other game could do less, but its because you made something greater than all the rest and seemed to forget that at such a critical time is why this has become a bit of an uncontrollable fire...Best of luck
BTW competition, other game companies of course would not want you to "fold" to the fans here. They want you to alienate yourself to these fans so they might steal some away...OR they simply want to slack off. You are not one of those lesser companies. I would not use them as reason why this ending never needed to be fixed or explained, etc.

I am genuinely surprised at all the asskissery for Bioware. They skirted answering hard questions that needed answering. The ending still sucks. I have serious doubts as to how they can improve on a crap ending with additional content.

I learned that lesson with DA2. A subpar product riding on the back of a great one. Same as with ME3, although it's only the ending that completely kills the whole franchise for the future.

Although I was surprised (in a good way) about hearing that the MP DLC would be free. I don't really care about it, but I guess it's still nice. Now I guess that makes up for making a story-important PROTHEAN squadmate buyable DLC.
Not that ending though.

+10 Renegade after that meeting to that specific skill
Sidenote: No offence StMalk but although that interviewing lady, on the pic above, really looks gorgous, this is not a "single bar" here and i highly doubt that anyone here can help you to find out her name, employer, contact or whatever.
You have my pity....

There are 2 main facts Bioware is failing to see here:
1st - they promised more to the people than there was in the ME3 ending. But they refuse to correct this, just expanding the 3 already horrible endings.
2nd - treat your customers good and they will return. IF you dont listen to them they go away and wont buy from you anymore.
The solution with the extended cut is their try to calm down the bad PR by the big majority of fans (which they ridiculously describe as few).
Just look at the Amazon reviews. Many "Mass effect 3" Articles only get to 3/5 points due the fact that there is a LOT of people giving it bad results.
I personally decided not getting the game (didnt cause i heard about the discussion before i actually wanted to). But seeing this whole ME3 ending discussion the past weeks makes me curious how it will end. - The release of the extended cut and the sale results in the next few months will show.
