I hope Bioware takes their time with Dragon Age 3. As much as I'd like a new Dragon Age by Christmas, I'd much rather have a game that had a lot of thought put into it as well as time to flesh everything out. I will admit that I'm impressed with what was able to be done with Dragon Age II given it's short development cycle, but that doesn't really excuse it's short comings that you really would not expect from a Bioware game.

DA3 needs two years of development. If DA2 had stayed in development for a few months longer I'd imagine we wouldn't be seeing those re-used maps.

yea, DA3 needs a couple years of work before release. On what planet are you guys? The re-used maps was a choice they made at the beginning.

Lol five years would be alitte to much, but when they went to Pax East they went with the right game face and talk. You're right they should take there time and make it a whole block of cheese rather than a cheese filled with holes.
As long as I dont have to stop in one city for the next 1000 years with hawk who has the worst luck ever (Worse than Alistair) and a few more females to flirt with (Other than a pirate hooker and a cute blood mage elf Image IPB). And also I wanna see how the dwarfs have gotten on over the last ten years, I'll be really happy Image IPB

We don't know when they made that choice, we only assume. And I assume they had no other choice than to cut off as many things as they could, because they had only a year and a half to finish the game. Same reason for why they f**** up ME3 endings. Time limit. Bloody EA.

I'm in the camp of wanting DA3 to be in development for as long as it needs, but there's no way it'll be five years from now.  It isn't good business to keep customers waiting that long, and you can bet EA won't allow for it.

Where do you get your notion that the re-used maps was a choice they made up front?

From what I've heard it was the time-issue that caused the re-used environments. A year and a half is a short amount of time to make a full-fledged game. I believe they probably did not want it to launch too close to ME3, but definitely before it. Maybe to help fund the final game, or check the reaction to some ideas they had implemented in DA 2 to see if it would work for ME3, but who knows?
Anyway, since there's no majorly important title being launched in the nearest future from Bioware, I think we can safely assume that they'll take more time with the next DA installment.

It worked for Skyrim.  But you're right in that EA probably wouldn't allow for it.

With ME3's lame endings killing its replayability for me I'd love DA3 asap but then I remember DA2 and those recycled environments, the forced race and all the rest of the things that sucked in DA2 compared to DAO and I have to side with the let it take as long as it needs camp.

I liked it when I saw on the screen 'Bring Back the Warden'.

I missed the 3 days of being able to add a thought to that post but I fully agree. After the disappointment I felt for DA2 it would take getting to play my Warden again to fully restore my faith in the game. I couldn't wait to see where his story went and bought the expansion and DLCs as soon as they were available. BW would have to make DA2's DLCs free and even then I have never gotten round to replaying the game after my first play through.

The developers really need to spending the time on making a good game, rather than rushing it out. If they end up further dividing people with Dragon Age III instead of bringing the fans back, then I don't think the franchise will have much of a future left.

I keep reading over and over in threads that they need (insert years) to make a good game, but that's neither here nor there. A lot of development time doesn't make a good game. There is no general rule that when they have 3 or more years it will be good, but if its less then it's gonna suck..

I loved the books, love the concept and the stories (all of them) they all need to be tied up and expanded upon... The mage revolt really needs expanding as its left hanging and was an epic idea but possibly not thought through thoroughly enough.

Lets see what Mr Gaider comes up with shall we. I for one look forward to it with bated breath.

How come Didn't we see him in DA:O Getting his head smashed in by a large warhammer or does he have nine lives but I have to agree he does have a look like him maybe Flemath might have saved more than two grey wardens then (One of her welcomed guests morigon used to tell stories about) lol.
