That bearded guy in the pic is obviously Duncan.

How come Didn't we see him in DA:O Getting his head smashed in by a large warhammer or does he have nine lives but I have to agree he does have a look like him maybe Flemath might have saved more than two grey wardens then (One of her welcomed guests morigon used to tell stories about) lol.

Or they, you know, just used a familiar face to show of their potential ideas for future DA content. These pictures aren't really a confirmation that we'll have these two pesons, this Grey Warden and this Seeker, as party members in future DA conent. The pictures are just means for the develpers to show us fans how they could handle the armor system for companions in future DA games/Expansions/whatever.
It might just be a coincidence that the GW looks like Duncan, but it might not and they used a familiar face as said or something like that.

Any way around, looks cool and they're definitely going for the right direction by listening to the fans. IMO this (possible) new armor system looks like the ultimate middle ground and could provide some really wicked customizations.

Man I gotta get myself a copy of DA2 to prepare already!:wizard:;)

 Hi Bioware,

i'm in a situation where i cannot buy anything on-line.  I live in the Philippines and none of the software retail stores here sell bioware points. Could Bioware release all the lastest Dragon Age 2 add-ons  in dvd form  for PC gamers here in the Philippines??

I love Dragon Age 2 immensely and it really upsets me that i have not been able to play a single add-on. I hope you can help me in this matter.

Thank you and more success to Bioware!

Same here, I've missed out on a lot of DLC stuff for DA:O and ME2. D:

I just watched the videos of the PAX panel about the future of Dragon Age and I wanted to say I loved it. It was hilarious AND informative. I also really appreciated how positive everyone was about Dragon Age 2. I loved the game and would like so see some elements of it survive in the franchise (i.e. companions having their own lives and interacting with each other, independent of the player, the more personal story of DA2, other things…).

Now, it was mentioned several times that the Dragon Age team was listening to the community and wanted to present ideas to the community while there was time to get feedback, so I'd like to give a little feedback.

I love the proposed companion customization. Given the way armor could be mixed and matched in Mass Effect 2 and 3 while still retaining a clear theme, I have no doubt this is doable and will be a lot of fun. I love when characters have distinct visual styles and clear profiles, like in DA2, and look forward to seeing those unique identities blend with player control.

This maybe the wrong forum for this and if so, apologies.

Here are some areas that I would take from DAO/DAA and DA2 to help make DA3:

DAO/DAA
-Large World with different areas/cities to visit
-Different Origin stories or similar spin off
-Character and Race Customization
-Create Legendary Weapons
-Epic Boss battles
-Tactics and no enemies jumping from rooftops all the time.
-Weapon and armour quality scale (iron, steel, dragon, etc)
DA2
-Combat speed
-Level up system
-NO Jasmina's Cutty Wrap! Damn that thing is ugly!
-Conversation wheel (but better discriptions)
-Voiced protagonist

I'm sure there are more but I'll leave it at that.

I agree they are the most points people do like the one thing I was hoping for in a DLC was to rule the city in DA2 just like when you built up vigil's keep etc.

Allow us to make the cit y better at
  • build a better city areas (Hightown, low town and docks, so Better docks could bring in my trade etc)

  • Train guards and army better.

  • Help equipe the troops with better weapons and armor (But only one type for guards and Army, so sliverat for guards and Red steel for Warrior etc to cost or making)

  • New laws in the city (Like Mages have the right to rule over minor noble titles under the watchful eye of the tempular and city guard)

  • Taxing (Should you tax the rich more to aid the poor to make more jobs and less crime)
I hope they might do this in DA3, I would have rather found out why hawk ruled the city and what made the people turn on him/her than Mark Of The Assassin, but that might be just me.

I saw that video for DA3 of Bioware announcing features that has been stock features since the 90's at least in video RPG's. What I don't get is why the press applaud like it was an innovation?

The only thing that would make me mildly interested in DA3 at this point is if it goes back to DA:O form because DA2 was just all kinds of mediocre as a RPG. But seeing as Bioware wants the CoD audience I don't see them ever making good RPG's again.

The only thing that would make ME feel interested in the next dragon age are:
1) will the next game bring back multiple races? I want to play as a dalish.
2) Can the main character in the new game be a mage?
3) is dual wielding 1h swords coming back for warriors and rogues? If is too hard then allow players to use whatever weapon/skills they want, make the skills system similar to Skyrim.

I like those ideas for city management for a DA strategy game, actually... (or as part of the RPG if you play any kind of monarch or governor type, or a general at any point)

Anywho, excellent! I finally saw the PAX footage and I felt like I was watching my suggestions quoted back to me, which was supremely cool. The armor system is exactly, detail for detail, what I asked for (also asked for it for Mass Effect 3 and didn't get it, but DA3 delivers! :D ), so it's got a lot more customization, it's got the choices really mattering again, more meaningful import variables, it's got the sense of scope and scale, etc. It's Orlais and then the entirety of southern Thedas! (That's the larger war, sweeping scale thing.) They specifically mentioned the battlefield tactics I harped on and on about, specifically mentioning chokepoints, high ground, battlefield positioning, and all that, so.. It's Christmas! Thank you! :D

There are plenty of other specific things that really didn't come up, specifics of how battle lock-on and approach works, whether they're thinking about including mounted combat, etc. I still don't know if we're going to get to choose our race and/or origins or if there's any difference in the opening of the game ala Origins, or if we'll have potentially three or four pc voice actors rather than two (to accomodate race selection a little better), etc. I don't know if they're going to do player involved companion banter like I suggested, whether there's going to be tasteful nudity ala Heavy Rain (the most emotionally realized, artistically mature game made to date IMO), etc. I don't know if mid-range throwing knife to dagger, main and gauche, tomahawk, or other weapon styles are being implemented. I guess that's all for a later date.

I'm very excited with everything they brought out for that presentation. ;-) Thrilled and anticipating more.

Bioware definitely is taking the right approach to this game. Getting input now from us as gamers will help them shape and improve the game. Both DAO and DA2 had there goods and bad points. Combing the good points from both games will be challenging; however, if Bioware is able to accomplish it they will end up with one of the best cRPG of all time.

I just hope DA3 uses the equipment power system from DAO. I did not enjoy how it was implemented in DA2 as some of the items were pretty powerful early and other than the star rating they would have been powerful from start to finish in DAO but not DA2 due to the star system for equipment level, which makes no sense since an item that provides +1 to all stats is fairly powerful compared to an item that provides +1 fire damage.

PC character voicing and wheel were implemented fairly well in DA2; improvements on that would definitely make DA3 more enjoyable.

Last but not least, companion armor. I hope they implement what Bioare has shown as that would definitely add big value to the DA3 game.

So are there any chances of Dragon age 3 being officially announced at E3?

I think chances are very, very high that they will announce at E3.....I can't see them going to that and continuing to talk about a game that may or may not exist and we're all getting ansy with all their throwing out ideas about a potential, possible, theoretical upcoming game that rhymes with Braggin Mage Tree  Image IPB

Just watched the second half of the Pax panel thing. In it, Laidlaw hints that they want to make it so that you can only take *one* specialization, instead of 2 (like you could in the first 2 games).

So here we go again... the first item on the list of "things getting stripped from the game".

In the same panel though it was asked then answered that npcs and other characters will recognize you for what you are though. If you are a Blood mage they will know unlike in the previous games which pretty much ignored you or didn't even take notice if you used blood magic or just plain magice at all. (I am looking at you Templars in DA2.)

On a sarcastic note: Because... Yeah I really want a NPC to notice that I am a Arcane Warrior Battle Blood Mage... (That is fun to say though. Reference to Awakening Arcane Warrior, Battle Mage, Blood Mage) Also they already cut it back from 3 to two from DAO:A.

Serious Note: This allows them to focus more on that specific said branch and you will be able to do more with it. Think of it as equivalent exchange. Give up some to gain some.

To be fair to Mike, was he not talking in terms of narrowing things down so they can have more in the way of story specific content for each specialisation? I kind of like that idea.

i agree and it even adds more replayability, though not having more than 1 specialization will suck though, it might be over looked depends on how far they take this new idea

Aye, I’d consider it fair exchange, though it’s worth noting that all the bright ideas for DA3 will mean diddly squat if the timetable for delivering the game is truncated in the manner of DA2. Certainly a case of wait and see.

^that's a completely unbacked assumption.  They neither said nor hinted at any such thing.      The reasons they cited were strictly story related.  All they said was that limiting your character to one specialization will allow them to cater  specific  quests and stories to your specific specialization.

This is *precisely* the reasoning they used  for removing  every single aspect of customization  that we lost from DA:O to DA2:  The story dictates.

Examples:

-Can't choose your race anymore.  Why?   cuz we, the devs, can make a better, more detailed story if  we just use one race.
-Can't kill off any of your companions anymore.  Why?  Because... story.
-Can't equip Varric with daggers.   Can't put leather armor on Isabela.   Why not?    Story.  The characters don't belong to you, they belong to us, the story tellers.

Allowing for  only 1 specialization instead of 2 isn't a big deal in and of itself.  But it represents a mindset at play here.  For all their vocal claims otherwise, Bioware is already showing signs that they haven't listened, at all, to  the last whole year of feedback.

I have to question the idea that in order to focus on the specializations better, the player must be restricted to only being able to pick one.

I mean, even if they do focus on them better, it seems kinda... restrictive. They'd still be making the content for them anyway, so why limit the player into what he can pick?

To be fair, since DAO I felt it was a bit contrary to the meaning of the term "specialization" for you to have TWO of them (much less three in Awakening). But I suppose it would be restrictive in terms of options, and that's probably something they want to avoid if they know what's good for them.

Indeed. BG2 had whole strongholds with whole questlines devoted to the different classes. So what happened if your character was a Fighter/Mage/Thief multi-class? SIMPLE, you got to friggin *choose* which stronghold you wanted.

Imagine that. Choice. Not the bad word that people are making it out to be
