first time around i played a very nice male mage, romanced leliana, chose harrowmont, allistair, mages etc...
this time around i wanted things to go differently
so i decided to play female rogue
originally i was going to play city elf, but apparently some people did not like it
also can i become queen if i am an elf or can i only be a human noble?
also some people seemed to have liked the dwarf noble origin
though i hear it will be difficult for me to choose bhelen after playing the dwarf origins

please do not spoil the origins for me, however, which origin do you think is most interesting, and has most impact on the rest of the game, for female rogues

You can only be queen as a human noble. Give the Dwarf Commoner a run that's a good story.

I'm very fond of the Human Noble origin. Dwarf Commoner is pretty good too.

You can only become queen if you play a human noble.

I've played all of the origins, and they all have interesting things to hook you, IMO. It really depends on what TYPE of female rogue you want to play, character-wise. The dwarf noble and human noble origins have the "the higher you are, the farther you have to fall" idea behind them. The human noble origin is the only one that made me cry, but I'm a big family bonding type. The dwarven noble origin gives you an up close and personal look at how Bhelen deals with those he believes to be obstacles to his power, yes.

The city elf is good if you want to play someone very, VERY angry with the world.

The dwarven commoner was the only origin I thought made you actually feel like you were moving UP in the world by joinin the Grey Wardens. Heh.

I'd say City Elf myself-you get persuede (so you can potentially just avoid fights that might go pear-shaped) and IIRC a dual weapon skill for free, so you're with a good setup towards dual fighting.

I believe dwarf commoner also has some good skills but I can't remember which, and of course, both thematically fit the class (Noble thief? Erm... yeaaah, sure...)

Dalish elf could work if you intend to go ranger style of course

hmmm

i guess playing an oppressed person will make more sense for a rogue...

city elves are probably more opressed...

It does depend. Did you like the character of Beatrix from "Kill Bill?" If so, City Elf is the origin for you. You also get a bump to persuasion, which is a skill you want. Later in the game, you get to feel like you did something for your people. Also, whenever you want to do something evil, if the victim is human, you have your reasons.

Heh. A rogue needn't be a sneak thief. If you play one of the noble origins, you can play one of those fast-talking, poison using types. Or perhaps you are a black sheep of the family and dabble in larceny for the thrills. Or maybe you just learned hunting skills rather than heavy warrior training. You don't HAVE to pick up Stealing as an ability, for instance, as there are A LOT of things to choose from the rogue talents. :)

The City Elf origin is great for a female rogue, that is the play through I am doing now. But yeah unless you are a female HUMAN noble you cannot become queen.

You can wear medium armor and focus on dual wielding and essentially be a warrior who can open locks and fights dirty.

Story wise I like Human and Dwarf Noble the best. If you're looking to be queen you have to do human noble.

I think it's also good for a "i never wanted any part of this" and more withdrawn approach. Kind of a reluctant anti-hero archetype.

Why not try for yourself? Try them both and then judge.

Cannot go wrong either way IMO.  Both are excellent origins.

I went with elf because I wanted to try another romance and Zevran is an elf.  I try to stay within my own species.

bonus doesn't really matter

they are just the ranger archetype

they don't fit the sneaky shady backstabby rogue image

It all depends on how you envision your rogue ofcourse. Though being a woodsman requires one to be quite stealthy. But if you want backstabby I'd recomend the dwarf commoner one. You start out as a small time crook.

The sneaky shady backstabbing rogue fits best with dwarven commoner. But that may just be me. You are a part of an organisation of backstabbing sneaky rogues.
