Too bad the game has a lot of dialogue without prompting which is influenced by your paragon / renegade points, though. They'll think Renegons want to shoot people in the face and Paragades want to hug.

Um, after reading that, is it possible to patch that into ME1&2? :D

It's great they did this because I was planning to write an over-elaborate, self-indulgent, borderline vitriolic rant against the whole false dichotomy thing that needs to go away.

The old system was really archaic and actually hurting RP experience so I'm incredibly happy for this change

Oh I know, heh.

It was, by far, my least favorite thing about Mass Effect.  It worked in KOTOR/Star Wars because that universe has childishly simplistic ethics anyway, it might have worked in Jade Empire - if Closed Fist wasn't simply "be a jerk" - but it was tacked on and poorly implemented in Mass Effect, primarily I'd argue because Renegade is a mess.

They did that in the demo so it would focus more on combat and stuff. They said that in the full game, you'll have more options during conversations.

I really wish they could apply this to ME1 & ME2 if/when doing a trilogy edition (along with unifying character creator across all 3 games)

Indeed this is an improvement, I wonder as some others here have wondered if the Paragon/Renegade ratio will "flavor" dialogue as it does in DA2. I love that, playing a snarky character really is entertaining.

But why doesn't your amp end at 10 like other amps?

Renegade looks like it will be a little less of a mess in ME3.

I am talking about the full game, Shepard has auto-prompt dialogue and it's influenced on your Paragon or Renegade score. Imagine Kasumi / Zaeed but with Shepard talking back.

I don't think it works like that.  There are mods for that though.

I've done it many times in multi with armour-piercing ammo on Guardian shields.

There’s no penalty for mixing Paragon and Renegade

...

All my love. All of it. Take it.

To be clear, this is a lot of love you're recieving. You'll probably need to rent a warehouse or something.

So... unless I'm mistaken...

The amount of paragon and renegade things you do still determines whether you'll be able to use Charm or Intimidate options, but having done enough total stuff means you can still do at least one?
If so, neat.

I always hated how a morality system tends to turn into an either-or situation, where choosing one at the start of the game meant you have to keep choosing that one throughout the game if you wanted the 'best' ending.
Dragon Age, in my opinion, did morality the best way. This looks like it's going to be a close second.

I'm still a bit confused.  I too hated the old system because at the beginning you definitely had to choose virtually all paragon options to have a chance at the later ones.  But in this system, lets say I choose 75% paragon and 25% renegade, will I get BOTH options later in the game, or only the paragon one?

I have been wanting this for the last two games.  Oh Happy Day!!!!!  Thank you so much!!!!  Now I don't have to worry about which option I choose, or if I use a renegade or paragon interupt.  I can do what I want woo hoo.

Both. The option will be determined by your reputation level, not by what's the ratio of Paragon/Renegade in your Reputation bar

This is just pure speculation on my part, with literallly no data to back it up, but...

I think if a certain charm/intimidate option requires, for example, 50 reputation, and you have, say, 60 renegade and 30 paragon, you can use the intimidate option, but if you had at least 50 of both, or if they were equal, you'd have access to both.

Or something.
As I said, don't quote me on this.
