I'm playing Lair of the Shadow Broker for the first time (I've had it for over a year, just haven't gotten around to actually playing it).  The Broker's ship is in a horrible storm, lightning and debris flying everywhere.  Yet, Liara and Kasumi are only wearing a breathing aperatus.  I know Jack and Samara did this, and I figured maybe they were saying, "these guys are poewrful biotics, they dont' need it".  But Kasumi?

So will Mass Effect 3 actually have real helmets and gear for party members to wear when they are in vacuum and such?

No, I know.  But no headgear to protect their face?  Eyes?  It's a little weird.  You can see things flying through the hair.  Looking foward would be difficult as well.  You were also in vacuum on the Collector ship (or at least there was no life-support).  So Kasumi, Samara, and Jack (especially Jack) would frelling freeze.

No life support?

Collectors need air too, only the Geth don't have much air.

From what I gather, life-support is shut down to make you think it's entirely derelict.  Then, when the Collector's come to attack, life-support turns back on.  My guess is they were hiding somewhere.  But when you enter, you enter in an area (at the very least) without life-support.  Otherwise, why would other squadmates (including shepard) be in her helmet?

That's for oxygen possibly, which is why they wore air-masks. But unless the ship was exposed to space, the pressurization wouldn't change and so no need for any other type of protection.

The lack of proper gear for vacuum and hostile enviroments in ME2 was odd. If you are in an place that has no air you need a helmet or your eyes pop out of your head and your blood will boil.

Not true at all, no idea where you learned what you think.

You may be talking about vacuum exposure which is more than just loss of air but loss of pressure as well.

That's why the ship matches the interior pressure to exterior atmosphere.

The meaning of a vacuum is no air and no air means no pressure. Without pressure there is nothing keeping the liquad in our bodies from turning to gas. We also need air pressure to keep our skin from bursting open, we see this ingame with the Volus who need full body suits when dealing with other races since they live in much higher pressure.

In the collector ship the shuttle got into the ship through a big hole that opened into space and I dont know about you but I dont recall seeing any doors keeping the air in that part of the ship getting sucked out.

Many times in the life of people will they encounter a situation with no oxygen, swimming can be one of them, you don't explode because of it.

There's a lot more to it.

You have an option to toggle helmets under options. Squadmates will wear helmets whenever in combat zones. Only Liara doesn't get an actual helmet; she gets a mask. :/

Apparently Bioware wants you to look at all the hard work they put into animating lips.

When you go swiming you replace air pressure for water pressure. It has nothing to do with oxygen but the pressure being placed on the body is what keeps the water in us from boilling.

I'll say it again.

The lack of oxygen does not mean the lack of pressure.

Even so, vacuum wouldn't make you explode.  That's Hollywood.  You still couldn't survive in it without full gear.

Im not talking about oxygen in anyway, I am talking about air pressure, with or without oxygen if there is no external pressure on the body then the liquad starts to boil. In space there is no air of any kind which means no pressure, this is why astronauts need to wear big full body suits if all we needed was a supply of oxygen to the lungs all they would need is a facemask.

It's under "Gameplay" I think.

He didn't say lack of Oxygen he said lack of air.  In this instance they are not meant as synonyms.  Anyone with a passing knowledge of how open space works would've been able to use context here to grasp the meaning.  But since you don't even know that underwater you have pressure(and considerable pressure at that), that inference was impossible for you.  Let this one go: Better to keep your mouth shut and appear the fool, than to open it and remove all doubt.

The difference of one atmosphere of pressure isn't enough to cause a human to explode/boil. That's only ever happened when going from several atmospheres of pressure to one (as in, diver ascending to the surface).

You're not going to instantly boil or explode in a no-pressure environment, but it's pretty goddamn unhealthy, even without taking radiation into account.

this the biggest issue is radiation and air iif you have an air supply and some way to keep from getting cooked (in your in light or freezing when in shadow
you can survive for a wile
as said its not going to very good for you but limited exposer isnt going to kill you
you can tank the Germans ce.WWII for testing this btw >.> as sick as it was we learned a lot about how the human body reacts to a lack of atmospher same with hypotherma again it wasnt right but we wouldnt have the information we have on it now

freezing would actually happen a lot slower than you'd think, since in vacuum there's no medium to conduct the heat away from your body so any heat loss would be radiative rather than conductive. Suffocation would be a much more pressing issue
