Sooner or later, people are just going to have to accept criticism on this site. They can agree, disagree, argue if they must.

Or they can take the BioDrone approach and justify, ridicule, and basically deny that other people have discerning tastes.

I think OP is in denial here.

While I have no problem with the endings myself, sometimes I wonder if the majority of Bioware's fan base play their games for anything other than story. Even if the endings are "bad" (which is subjective) does that mean you don't enjoy the game itself?

No. I'll still buy the game eventually, but I won't pre-order it. I'll pick it up used for ~$10 someday. Probably beat it once, and then never again. I didn't spend two games growing attached to Shep and his crew just to shrug off their inescapable grim fate/demise.

And let me ask you this, how do you know that their fate is grim? Maybe instead they feel hope....you do not have the context.

Why change a winning formula? Or: If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

But in all fairness, that can be said for the storytelling of newer Bioware games too Image IPB

Or maybe people have to learn that criticism based on things out of context is idiotic and illogical. Or maybe they have to accept that Bioware doesn't always want to use the same formula over and over for their stories, and that old Bioware games have some HUGE flaws in storytelling.

thats a hard pill to swollow, when the first 2 games in the series give you a false sence of choice

It's called logic.  I've heard it's useful.

And whether or not they feel blind optimism does not change the circumstances of their situation.  It is a grim, sad, unnecessarily contrived tragedy.  I suppose one of them could have drunk the Kelly-Aid, but that doesn't change that reality...just how they hypothetically feel about it.

What we have is a handful of trolls and fans who think that because "A" of ME3 is off, when "A" of ME1 was awesome, it must just be the most horrible game ever.

Same things happened to GoW3, the entire campaign leaked months before the game came out, it was horrible. If you listen to the people it'll just ruin your own experience. Decide if it sucks when you actually play it.

As for the winning formula, that's just a matter of opinion. Saving the galaxy and having everything be hunky-dory is great, yeah, but it's boring. You shouldn't be able to do that in any end of the trilogy. But ME3 is trying to bring a whole new level of it. People will die no matter what you do. I personally find it fascinating(and have not read any spoilers past that, surprisingly), and am very interested to see how it plays out.

For the OP: Avoid the forums, youtube, and any other site that offers information on the game and allows comments. You'll be fine. The Hype train will kill the game for you, trust me.

Wait...Seriously? That makes me feel a lot better about people's reactions. I thought I was crazy for being sane so to say.

If the game is fun, it should be fun even if the ending is bad.  The ending of Baldur's Gate is little more than the main villian falling over.   Yet I still replay that game at least once a year, because I love the gameplay and the storyline.

No matter how much the ending blows, if you have fun playing the game it should still be a good game.  If you're playing the game for the gameplay.  If you're playing the game for the story, I suppose you would be rightly disappointed.

The fact we just linked Gears of War which had a terrible story with so many issues it was ridiculous and so many convoluted issues as well... to a dedicated RPG is just... sad.

GOW never implied that things would end on a very positive note, I always thought (not with what Kratos is like for one thing). And besides, it's not like we had a choice in those games, did we? It wasn't a role-playing game, it was an action game. A straight line from beginning to start.

It never had anything like ME2's suicide mission for one thing...

So far we know little to nothing about the game

I'm not sure where you've been, but it's clear you have not been paying too close attention.

Why don't you use logic, would th ecrew rather

A. Be turned into Reaper paste

or

B. While stranded, live out the rest of their lives as companions, best of friends living for eachother, knowing that the Reaper threat is over.

I understand everyone's has the right to voice their own opinion but sometimes people here are too harsh. I know this is the internet but have some respect people!
