"The journey is more important than the destination"- unknown

"You can't always get what you want, And if you try sometimes you find, You get what you need"- The Rolling Stones

Please, consider that the ending, whether you like it or not, is just a part of a whole. The entire game will not be bad if you think the ending is, which i doubt it will be to any tolerant person. Bioware has poured their hearts and souls into the mass effect series, and all of their work. If you even consider yourself a fan, you would only appreciate what they have done. I personally can't stand to see such intolerance and undeserved thoughts of entitilement from "fans" who think they wont like an ending they havent even played because they dont want to risk not liking it. Give a chance to the men and women who have given us such amazing games in the past. Give thanks to these individuals who have given hours of entertainment to you.

A bad destination can ruin the journey.

I agree. Did anyone really expect this to end in sunshine and happiness?

A bad destination can dampen the journey, but if the journey was enjoyable then you must have gotten something out of it.

Not when the destination invalidates the story. Sorry, but I hate that quote. It's always used by writers that know they wrote a crappy ending and every time I see a writer use it, it sends up a red flag.

I don't care how enjoyable the journey is; if the end result is that I'm getting shoved in a pool of molten lava or something, it's going to sour the whole shebang. Logan's Run anyone? :P

I could have a great trip across the country, but if someone shoots me in the face when I get to Las Vegas, I'm gonna be pissed.

OP: I appreciate the attempt.

You are correct, some folks just don't want to pay full price to get kicked in the nads at the end. It's not a very good shooter, its saving grace, in my opinion was story. People are not as upset at the endings as they are at the fate of shep and his crew.

I think it's a small thing to ask for, and would not change the larger ending. Regardless it is not going to happen. what we've seen is what we get, so the question for some now moves from...will i be dissapointed to...will i pay to be disappointed. It's not an unexpected progression.

Journey and Destination coincide. You can't have one without the other. If your destination is bad, why go on a journey? You'll just waste your time going through the journey only to end up with no reward. IF the leaked endings are true, then I want my time and money back because I went on a journey only to end up dead/alive and without my crew.

The journey is not more important than the destination.

If I'm going on a journey to my friend's house, and I end up in hell, I'm going to be pissed. If I'm going on a journey to hell, and I end up in hell. I'm going to say "as expected." If I survive hell, great. If not, then fine. The problem here, is that you've essentially averted "hell" twice in this series. Had Mass Effect 3 been the first one, I guarantee no one would have been too upset if these were the endings.

In most stories, I don't get what I want. But even if I don't, there's still a satisfaction with the story being completed... Here...? It feels a bit empty honestly. Let me make this clear for you:

ME2, you can die at the end. However, dying in ME2 doesn't feel bad. You feel accomplished, you've set out to do what you've done. Like Miranda said, it was likely to be a one way trip, and it was. Still, the death wasn't hollow. It had meaning (in the context of Mass Effect 2).

Versus ME3...?

I'll take that as a compliment. TIM is bad-ass.

I honestly havent even read the endings yet, but why would i want to? I want to be surprised, and i hope the ending is sad or upsetting or devastating. Ive played both 1 and 2, read the books, and played the demo more than Ive played any other demo before, and I havent been dissapointed yet. If bioware decides to make a controversial ending, good for them.

I didn't read the ending. I was told the ending. Unless I like... Punched them in the face mid sentence or ripped my ears off, there's no way I could stop that from happening.

The ending isn't really controversial. It's pretty clear.

Yep. You're right. How can we call ourselves fans? We should be grateful to them and like whatever it is they give us. I mean, what right do we have to have opinions or concerns? How dare we question anything. I tell you, you have opened my eyes! After all, it isn't like we're spending our hard earned money on it. It's completely free and.....oh wait....Image IPB

Srs biz: I understand you saying that we should wait until we play the game before we get upset and I agree with you to a point. When you're given information---good or bad—you will form an opinion. I can't speak for anyone else, but when I am given information, I form on opinion on said information. As more information pours in that opinion may change. To tell anyone they aren't a true fan because they don't act as if they “love” Bioware as much as you do is asinine.

I plan on buying this game and making my final decision as to whether it's a good game or not. Until that happens, I have a right—as does any other fan—to be concerned with information we are seeing. You have a right not to agree with us, but it doesn't make you a better “fan”.

I dont mean to claim to be a better fan, nor do i mean to claim for everyone to love bioware unquestionably. I apologize if that is how it came off. I just believe that people should appreciate what they have done before and try to consider what they've enjoyed in their opinions as well. Saying you have heard leaked info and are now cancelling plans to buy the game seems to me as an extremist action. I am all for forming opinions based off of what you are given, but I think we are forming opinions without all the facts or experiences taken into account. Its fine to be concerned too. I have concerns with the game. Im just not taking any radical action or bashing bioware for them.

If i had died with my crew, then that would've been cool, but dying alone and your crew dying alone is not cool.

I was already torn between this and another game that were coming out at the same time though! I was completely down the middle. It was like

Other game:
1) Can play with friends without being Online
2) Pretty long.
3) Fun as hell.

Mass Effect 3:
1) Finishing up a Trilogy
2) Pretty decent length.
3) Pretty fun.

Then Mass Effect 3 countered with Origin and used the finisher of "not so stellar ending." From there, it pushed me to the other game.

The journey doesn't mean much when it ends at a concrete barrier when you're travelling 1500 miles per second.

You can't always get what you want, but what you get should at least make sense.
