Because it adds a little extra immersion. I got used to it in Mass Effect 2 but I still missed it. I mean you shouldn't have to fly away from the planet/asteroid/citadel every time you return to the Normandy.
It's not going to make or break my enjoyment of the game (I am not insane) but it would be cool.
