It's not bunnies and sunshine most people want.
All I want is to feel victorious and to be with my LI in the end. Remember ME1? It had a great ending. ME3 needs one ending that isn't death/destruction/permanent separation from your LI.

I understand it's war, and sacrifices must be made. But why can't there be one ending where Shepard can live and reunite with her/his LI to start the rebuilding process? Not everyone dies in war, and not every tale involving a huge battle has to end in grim-dark for the main character.
For lots of people, that feels like failure, and who wants to play a failure? We have plently of that in real life. I don't need to be spoon-fed it in my hobbies too. <_<

If you want it to be sad and realistic please do. Its alright everyone has their preffernce but that doesn't mean everyone wants it. Why cant I get through this with at least none of my crew being sacrifice? I'm playing freaking Shep (and Femshep). I stopped the reaper in the first game, killed the strongest Spectre Saren, Survived a sucide mission with no losses, blew up a relay, and most of all CAME BACK FROM THE DEAD DUE TO EX MACHIA. If I want to do the impossiple, Ill do it. Just give me the chance like you have before Bioware.HiddenKING wrote...

How dense are you people? WE ARENT ASKING FOR A SUNSHINE AND RAINBOWS ENDING. WE ARENT EVEN ASKING TO GET RID OF THE ONES WE HAVE NOW. WE ARE ASKING FOR ANOTHER ONE THATS NOT INCREDIBLY DEPRESSING.eye basher wrote...
if they retcon the endings i trade the game in you don't beat something like the reapers and get some half-assed ending with flowers and rainbow and they live happily ever after.

They always said it was the end of Shepard's story, after everythin Shepard did the end needed to be definite. I like the endin not because it's sad and/or realistic but because it's one the trilogy needed. It's not perfect and I know Bioware could have done some things better, but it does open up brand new possibilities for the Mass Effect Universe. I like the games and characters, but more than that I love the Universe. And I see tons of ways it can develop and brand new possibilities with these endings.

If Shepard survives at the end of the game and his friends are stranded, how does it end his story at all? It just raises more questions.

So what kinda message is that? I agree completely I love this series (favorite in my life so far) but if you want to continue on why make it so grimdark? Its like Alien 3, we have this cast of survivors lets kill them all in depressive ways. I agree this should be the end. It could have easily been accopmplished in the same way if Shep got stranded with his crew/Li on the planet or even on earth. No more relays, in a hundred or so years Shep will be dead. THe only characters left for something into the furture (Like the prolouge suggest) Wrex and Liara will still be alive. (I think I forget how old Wrex is) In furture installment Liara can play a similar role to Harold from the Fallout franchise or RD-D2 from Star Wars ina since they have seen this story from the start.HiddenKING wrote...

Like I said they could have done some things better. But the endin does give Bioware the chance to move away from the 2 dozen or so people from the games. And gives them the opportunity to create new characters, locations, technology. The Galaxy is ready to be rediscovered.

Quoting again just to see how boxed in it can get. Good points none the less. Ill still enjoy this ending just with the hoep alone that if I'm alive...and the LI is not on Normady...Well maybe? Also I promise you Liara and Aria (if they dont die) will return. Why would Liara be forced onto the Normandy unless they wanted a sure thing for her to come back. The idea of being forced into an incredibly ****ty ending reminds me of Fallout 3... which got me wondering. Do you think Bioware will ever retcon the DLC like F03 did with "Broken Steel"?
I think a lot of people use the word "retcon" without truly knowing what it means. You did correctly use the word when describing Fallout 3 because Broken Steel did change the ending of Fallout no matter which ending you wound up with in the end... some changes were more drastic than others, but they did all change.
In the case of Mass Effect 3 I highly doubt they'll retcon the endings to the game. They may add new endings though but it won't be a retcon unless they change the endings to something else and force this change on players.

Not many people really like to end a trilogy on a downer. We all deserve at least one really happy ending.

Agreed. If I wanted horror and depressing I would play Dead Space.
We have the chance to survive a suicide mission and in the last installment everyone is screwed? If they set it up this way fine, but I feel betrayed because that is not the way they marketed it.

Sorry, what polls?
Also poles are very easy to manipulate. Just as any woman.
