For instance how often do you chide on someone you can't stand? Probably not that much, If you hate someone generally you won't speak to them period.

open with anyone, but you just have to use the right dialogue with her, and get her approval up.
About her relationship with Alistair, after all the sniping at him throughout the game, I was surprised she wanted to sleep with him. She sure hadn't shown any desire to have a relationship with him before that.

I'm pretty sure she still doesn't want to have a relationship with him.

She do whatever she wants and please while totally ignore the society's view.
Alistair grew up with in the Chantry, and that is a lot of ethic education.
In short, he is narrow minded and naive.
They are completely oppsite to each other so no wonder they don't like each other.

Also, I tend to tell Morrigan that Alistair is an idiot, but he's MY idiot

LOL! She'll also sleep with Loghain, or the PC. She doesn't want a relationship, she just wants to get pregnant.

Bioware are going for the whole 'King Arthur and Morgan Le Fay' angle (notice the similarity in name and purpose of Morgan and Morrigan?).
Actually I don't notice any similarity in name at all - Morgan is of Brythonic origins (specifically Welsh) while Morrigan is from the Goidelic branch (specifically Irish Gaelic). The two names mean completely different things and when pronounced by speakers of either language don't actually sound that much alike either.
Come on really? You don't see the similiarites? As has been mentioned, they are pronounced similiarly in english. I know when I first saw morrigan I shouted arthur reference. And then in the ending with her sleeping with you to get pregnaunt..... Its not perfect but it seems pretty obvious that bioware was at least inspired by arthurian legend.

Morrigan is not a cold selfish ****, she is raised by Flemeth and has extremely bad people skills.
Oh, she wants to sacrifice the elven slaves in return for blood magic enhancements for one, thats pretty cold. She wants to let the demon possess the girl in honoleath, just to give a few examples. And in the end, she shows her true colors, all her time spent with you was to further her own goals. Which qualifies for the selffish bit.
Hahaha lol. Morrigan is the epitome of a self service. She's in it for herself, and she takes up a quid-pro-quo attitude, quite literally in the end. If thats bad people skills I'd hate to see what it takes to be classified as a selfish ****.

I think some people here are taking some of the party banter between Allister and Morrigan too seriously. Ever argument I have noticed is generally light hearted. They in no way to me seem like they actually hate each other.

Well, to be fair, there are people I can't stand in my WoW guild (or a person atm). Of course, that's what /ignore is for (which I finally made use of last night after said person ticked me off yet again). However, if you're stuck in a party together like Morrigan & Alistair, I think you do have to at least stay on speaking terms (especially if the world is in danger). That being said...I still don't think they like each other very much.

Anyone else think that the kind of animosity shown by Morrigan and Alistair towards each other could only come from an intense, denied mutual attraction? Or have I been overexposed to Hollywood-style contrived plot devices?
No, not really if you really want some sexual tension put Zevran in your group or Orgren, there are sexually harassing women in the group lol
Like when Zevran try to seduce or mock Wynne or Orgren when he ask Leliana if Chantry girls wear panties >.>'

Someone said in another thread that if that's true, Morrigan will make a catty remark to someone (Ohgran?) about her sleeping with Alistair. However, I have yet to see that so I can't confirm, and I imagine that it was just Mor trying to make the other person confused/uncomfortable.
Having said that, they really do remind me of the relationship I had with a boy, once: we argued, bickered, snapped at each other, treated each other with such distain and I was constantly being asked 'why do you keep talking to/about him if you hate him so much?'... and I had the most horrible crush ever on him.
Then again, I was fourteen. Then again again, Morg and Ali do, at times, sort of come off as being emotionally stunted teenagers.

What i don't understand is why Morrigan doesn't try to seduce Alistair more actively instead of making fun of him which he clearly dislikes. After all her main reason for joining you (which becomes clear in the end) is so she can have the demon baby (i played female so Alistair is the only option). Seems like quite a risky plan. If you have no meta-game knowledge i believe the most natural option is to hope for Riordan to sacrifice himself, especially if you're romancing Alistair as it feels quite strange to persuade him into sleeping with another woman. And if you're not romancing him i felt either of us might aswell die as heroes.
This. It made no sense to me.
