i ignore online reviews for games for a long while after a game comes out. all the big reviews for the first few weeks are going to be payoffs for high scores anyway. and that's not just anti-EA angst, it's just good advertising business.

SM 64 was a classic compared to that "Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing" piece of doody.

You could drive through buildings, trees, mountains, and even bridges.

Uhh, I just need to say my first comment was meant in 99% jest. I read your first sentence and believed it to be true. I was just saying something off the cuff with little regard. Maybe that was a mistake. Or maybe I'm just reading your tone incorrectly. Either way, I was always taught to be a gentleman, so I'll go ahead and apologize. For what, I'm not sure. But I've learned from my wife that I don't have to be sure in order for it to work.

Well, seeing how 5 is in the middle and I know some of the spoilers, I'd say it deserves a 7.5 or even an 8. However, 7 and 8's don't sell units, so they have to inflate it. Also, the game. You haven't played it.

Reviews of games are not relevant to ones opinion, especially the arbitaury (pointless) numbering system which changes with each reviewer.

Take them all with a grain of salt and simply play the game to gain your own opinion, stop being pushed and pulled by other peoples opinion, just because they write down on paper, means little.

It doesn't deserve a perfect score, there are flaws and issues in the game, therefore it should not recieve a perfect score. Nothing personal to Bioware, but to get 10/10 is to have absolutely no issues in the game and to be incredibly good in all areas. Mass Effect 3 doesn't fill all those columns to the perfection area.

Don't get me wrong, it deserves a high score of 9, maybe even 9.5, but it's not perfect.

I reckon any hipster journalists out there looking to make a name for themselves would penalize it far more. I could see 8.5s or lower from people detached from the universe who focus more on the technical side of things.

Some people will think the textures are ugly, the animations are dated, the level design is cliche and predictable and frame-rate issues and texture pop-in are unacceptable in 2012. Others will dislike the PC control scheme, or the narrow field of view. Other people are just complete dicks. Some people will find excuses to hate on more mainstream [e.g. EA] titles for whatever reason.

That's a very stupid thing to say, OP. I hope you're joking.

I want to chime in about reviews and perfect scores. If a game is given a 10/10 rating (from a respectable reviewer), that does not mean the game is perfect. It just means that the game is so good in every way that any faults it has are negligible.

Rating are pointless - metacritic is now so depended upon by Publishers and devs, that journos and gamers with an axe to grind know exactly where to punish them - in the metacritic score....

All reviews should be 'Stay Clear', 'Hold off', 'Buy it' instead of all this percentile numbers into a weighted average BS from metacritic.

THAT sucks. I'm sure, even without playing it, that it deserves a perfect score.

Not that I care, I already have my CE preordered. But I want more people to know how great this game is so we can get more sagas with this quality from BioWare.

Nothing is perfect. These comments remind me of all my litterature professors who stated that only God can get 10/10 on the subject, 9/10 was for the professor and us students would get from 8/10 and downwards

Well in all honesty, what is the point of having a 1-10 system if you will never even bother with the numbers below 6? A game with a score of 5 is supposed to be an alright game, not a game with a score of 8, 8 is supposed to be "this game is very, very good and deserves and award", and 10 is supposed to be a game without equal. If people don't use the entire of the damn spectrum, it makes all points towards it invalid.

Critics are worthless. They point out flaws and shortcomings and complain and nitpick and contribute nothing of worth.

People should experience the game themselves or talk to friends who have the game if they want to know whether it's good or not.

If I remember correctly 9/10 is from PSX Magazine so it's ONLY for Consoles not PC version.



After reading all news on forum I'm surprised that ME 3 got 9/10 Should be at least 1-2 points lower.

People criticizing on forums are even more worthless than people writing reviews for magazines. I swear if these people found themselves in paradise tomorrow it wouldn't be five minutes before they found something to complain about.

You sir are the reason the entire reviewing system in gaming journalism is broken. You and people like you,. The reason why it is now so skewed that it has been rendered useless and pointless.

The DA2 debacle showed how gaming journalists can no longer be trusted because of people like you demanding unreasonable scores in said reviews about the "triple A" titles that you like.
