I would say they are more accurate and honest 'cause noone cares about them and no publisher or developer will try to make influence (sometimes called corruption) on them.

You're sure a game you haven't played deserves a 10?
Yeah, like from Poland. It's a country. And people live in it. And reviewers live in it.Volus Warlord wrote...

School exams and video game online reviews have different rates of infaltion.FitScotGaymer wrote...
A 9 out of 10 if it were an exam would be an A+. Are you telling us that you would be fuming at getting an A+ in an exam? That ud expect an A++ or an A+++? Are you serious right here?

Don't worry, EA will make sure to pay up for 10/10s
But how is that a problem? Metacritic not only recognizes the inflation and changes their standard depending on it, they even go as far as to differentiate the inflation and inflated average between movie reviewers and game reviewers.Sidney wrote...
The problem with reviews now is that they've been inflated so much that the OP is right in a way, a 9/10 isn't stellar and god help us an 8.5/10 is almost surely a failure.

Yes, yes, the narrative of reviews matters but those numbers do too especially now with aggregators like Metacritic. For a lot of folks, the only reason to big into the narrative is if those scores are high enough to warrant your interest and at this point an "80" usually won't draw much attention.
C'mon, it wouldn't be the first time EA or others have paid reviewers to bump their games up. DAII was evidence of that, and outside of EA, see the Kane & Lynch fiasco with Gamespot.Phaedon wrote...

Is this a joke? Dragon Age 2's metascore is 5% above Metacritic average. Had we removed inflation, it'd score a 55% or so.Dionkey wrote...
