Sure it's a great game (when it works), but EA curently isn't supporting this game.

Go to EA's website and try to do a live chat.  You'll get kicked out after waiting around 40 minutes typically.  Then email EA.  You will get an email back saying they will respond within 24 hours. But many are reporting no response EVER.  Ok, so go to their official forum...there isn't one.  They link you back to this site.

Hmm?

I don't remember Baldur's Gate 2 was any different 10 years ago. Some companies just have a larger or proactive customer support base but as a business decision there isn't a techie patrolling this forum all the time. It is what it is and I don't expect things to change any time soon.

They couldn't have screwed them much harder. I paid 15 dollars for a NPC that doesn't talk. And in paying for that I also paid for the 3 hours I spent going around looking for a solution.

Some dude just posted about a DLC issue. And a Bioware person himself posted back with something nearly irrelevant. Some guy was updating his hardware wondering why it wouldn't work, and Bioware guy is like "If you logged into a separate account to play you need to log back into your own."

I went ahead an told that guy he wasn't helping.

EA and Bioware are not helping.

But you're right, it's a great game. So lets hope they start caring in the right places soon. Less people telling things that can't help them, more time LOOKING AT WHAT'S GOING WRONG.

EA, (As if I have your undivided attention) your support sight has about a 140-3000 success rate for a reason.

Say just be patience and wait for the next patch. I'm sure your BioWare (unsure about EA ^^) are working day and night to iron out all your bugs and make this your perfect game :) Dragon Age done pretty well considering BioWare bug history + the complexty of the game.

Not like this is Ultima IX ^^, I hope.

OMG this has Mass Effect PC writtin all over it and that was a port done by a third party, since this is first party and we are having these issues I shudder to think this might be the same. If it is, don't expect a total game fixing patch for about 6-8 months...

Well. I mean... problems are as unique as individuals. The DLC FAQ was helpful to me (I just had to uncheck and re-check everything, just like the FAQ said), and from what I understand most of the other DLC problems folks were posting about were the result of redeeming the codes on the bioware site before installing the game, and the game was creating a new log-in. If that was someone's problem, that FAQ would be helpful.
Can't knock the guy for trying, even if it wasn't relevant to that particular issue. Plus, you got to try something before you can say "nope, not working here, what can we try next."

I mean, I hope they get these issues worked out soon. I have custom content that my DAUpdater won't recognize either, and it'd be nice to install it. But the game is still new. (Maybe I'm patient too because its third party content, and all my collector's edition content worked fine.)

Edit:
RE: The long wait time for responses, see this from the official support site:

I don't see why we should expect EA or Bioware to know exactly what your problem is. Maybe 10% of the problems reported were known beforehand, and the rest they are just finding out as you report them. CS representitives are not engineers and the two teams arn't even in the same time zone. I wouldn't expect everything to be fixed so soon. Maybe they don't have a solution for you yet.

A lot of things are working for 99% of everyone else and for some reason your specific problem may be because of hardware (heat, too old), conflicting software (AVG for example), drivers (video, sound, etc), BIOS, accounts (didn't follow the steps, used wrong account), corrupt files, user error (often the case), or even misunderstanding (yes your buffs are supposed to run out when you run out of stamina). I've not run into one A or even B level bug in 100 hours of playtime.

I put in a ticket with EA about my sound problems over a week ago and haven't heard a thing from them.

Maybe I should just start buying console versions only.

Do they have those "holiday" things in the U.S.A.? Is there maybe one of those "holiday" things coming up in the near future? I wonder if people might want to take vacation sometime around one of those "holiday" things...

Get over it. Go spend time doing things other than playing computer games this week.

We know there's no support. It's standard fare these days. I'd think you people would've started to get used to it by now.

None of the support people most likely even live in the US so the holiday thing shouldn't even matter.

No, Bioware is in Canada, and IIRC they have a holiday around this time. And EA's hq is in the US.

I think there has been some support.  You gotta think though, if hundreds of people listing bugs and problems at once, how do you handle it?

Its a slow process but I think they should get it right, especally if they want to continue selling DLC.

Things have moved on since the days of SWKotOR II ^, I would think anyway.  Wonder if people still remember how buggy that game was :P

Well one thing is for sure, I won't be buying Mass Effect 2 for a good 6 months after it releases so they can hopefully sort out the bugs by then. I know nothing goes smoothly at release, but some of these problems are inexcusable in my opinion.

It's obviously because Bioware, and DAO are both scams cause EA is running out of money cause they just suck that badly...

EA has no intention of helping you cause all it is is to get you to buy the game, and the DLCs, and most of the time they don't even work properly...do EA give a f? No...of course not...cause the whole point was to steal your money and leave you with an underprepared bug infested supportless piece of **** game...congratulations...we just got buttraped by the gaming industry's black sheep...*claps*

They ARE supporting it. They will not, however, support customers who do nothing but yell, or use all caps. I had a nice chat with one of them a few days after the game went live. Had NO PROBLEM getting my stuff fixed. Give them a nice respectful attitude and they WILL help you.

This makes no sense.  First it's only thanksgiving and I opened the ticket LAST WEEK!  Plus I am on holiday tomorrow and was planning to play it over MY HOLIDAY, but EA/BIOWARE not only caused me to waste a ton of time trying to fix their buggy game but also ruined my plans to unwind on my holiday.

But yeah, it's my fault.Image IPB

I have tried that and it has gotten no where.  So yeah, if we raise the noise level it may get them to work on this junk.  This is just like the demigod launch...PC gaming is dying because of rubbish like this.

Haha. And to think, I thought they just hated me. they should at least post something on the forums to show that they're alive and working around the issues. I've seen free downloadable games that had better customer support than this game. Thats kinda sad :(

Here's an update for those trying to fix this by themselves (well I guess that's everyone because EA and Bioware aren't supporting this product).

I tried creating a new user (windows) profile and run the game from that profile. That didn't work either. Apparently it's missing the offers.xml file as the log says it's missing. If I could just get an offers.xml I'd put it in teh right place.

Can someone look in their offers.xml file and let me know what it contains? Is is personal info or is it generic (like a list of all the DLC available)?

I didn't realize EA ever cared for customers in the first place?
