Just been wondering. Since I DO like art and soundtracts and collector armor/rifle is transmited to ME 3... But it sounds silly to buy the game again on steam even if I get it at sale cheaper and I'm not sure if I can transmit my dlc and save files to steam version if I buy it again ;P

As few of us who have been playing for awhile as are left here now, the idea apparently was a new one to us. But if it ever was asked, all of the archives are still in the database.

So wait, there aren't any Bioware employers checking this section anymore?

They usually check the tech forums of recently released games, then the majority leaves after a couple of weeks until a patch is released.

To answer your question, you'll have to buy the Digital Deluxe seperately.

Actually Bioware got away from encouraging their personnel to interact on the forums quite a few years ago; there is always "some" minor interaction in the run-up to a game's release, and after that, much less, until the first patch, after which interaction of any kind always seemed to end.

Hmm, I see =/ Well, if I ever get feeling of wanting to waste money to get soundtrack, artbook and extra stuff, and its on sale, maybe I'll do that... I can still install my dlc on steam version right and transmit my save files there too and achievements so I don't have to get them all again, right?

So uh yeah, anyway for me to transmit my saves/DLC/achievements if I buy Digital Deluxe?

I'm not sure how Steam works. If the Steam version stores user data in the same folder, then yes, what you want should be possible:

Your saves should be automatically recognized, as long as you preserve the My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2 folder (all versions store exactly the same content here). (Basically just make a copy of this folder, uninstall your old version, install the new version, then return the copied folder to its original location if it got deleted in the uninstallation.)

Your achievements are tied to the profile file inside the folder I mentioned above as well. As long as you backup and restore that folder after switching, your achievements should continue to be recognized. (If you ever lose that profile file, on any version, your achievements reset.) I'm not sure if Steam uses a separate method to sync and control achievements; that may be an issue you'll have to investigate elsewhere.

Your DLC should be tied to your account here. I don't know precisely how Steam works, though. Here, you have to download your DLC manually and install it. As long as you log into the Digital Deluxe version with the same EA account as you use now, all your DLC should authenticate.

Any difficulty you encounter along the way will probably be due to purchasing through Steam (if you bought retail or through Origin, it would be possible without any problem). You may have better luck asking on their forums.

Wait, Origin doesn't have its own folder for games? O-o Steam at least has its own folder where it has games, not sure if it saves the save games in different one though... It doesn't with some games. Anyway, I don't think that I need to delete retail version before installing steam version right? I could just install it and check if it automatically recognizes the saves?

If you're moving from the retail version, I'm not sure your DLC will survive (I assumed you already had a Steam version). As I said, I don't use Steam, and I don't know what they do to the game to lock you into the Steam client.

You might have better luck at their forums, unless you can find someone here who's done it before and wants to talk about it (and you haven't had any luck so far).

As far as I know, Steam doesn't have its own dlc so you have to get it through BSN anyway.(one of reasons why EA stopped using Steam, they refused to give them DLC :P), so it should work if I install them again on that version... I think.
