What emotional component? According to a bunch of other threads here I will barely be able to interact with the characters I've come to know and love, and I KNOW that in the end I will doom every single civilization/community to isolation and complete information blackout..

So where's the incentive for emotional investment?
The creepy kid that they desperately try to make us care about?

They posted no reason for locking it. Let's see how many pages this topic can reach before END OF LINE.

They don't need a reason. They can just lock it.
If Stanley posted a reason, it would be something like "you are being hostile" and such.

Until the game is launched and we really see everything, he probably has the right.

But if indeed all these are the endings and such, then there shouldn't be a reason for a lock. That would show hostility on BioWare part while they defend the lies.

Am I the only one who thinks they came up with this spectacularly sh!tty ending because they've decided to renege on the idea that this is the last game in the "trilogy?" That they deliberately put in a terrible ending that couldn't be changed for anyone because they're going to be pumping out another lousy game after this and needed a common hook? We *are* talking about EA Games here.

Nope - I think this too - They pretty much have a clean slate with the ME universe now to do what they want.

The whole merge ending could be wiped out in a few generations where everyone is organic robots (BSG) etc.

I have no doubt we'll see the ME galaxy develop hundreds of years down the track with new games.

Doubt it. IMO at least. The ending, as crappy as it is, does mark the end of Commander Shepard's story and the whole Reaper story arc. It does leave openings for potential spinoffs however, such as a leisure suit larry-style game with Liara as the lead.

Never, I mean NEVER, trust what the devs say about their game. Especially when the game wasn't released.

"As Mass Effect 3 is the end of the planned trilogy, the developers are not constrained by the necessity of allowing the story to diverge, yet also continue into the next chapter. This will result in a story that diverges into wildly different conclusions [lmao] based on the player's actions in the first two chapters."

Beeeee Eessss. Just like Mass Effect 2's pathetic attempt at a "streamlined" ending (two cutscenes with npcs simply flagged as visible/not visible in the cutscene), Mass Effect 3 is turning out to be just as lazily "divergent." Except this time, they flag people as visible in the cutscenes *and* do a color swap on the relays in another scene!

It's fine though, because the voiceover changes nominally. When taken together, this makes things profoundly emotionally engaging.

Good god. Mass Effect 1 was the only game in the series that showed me any sort of competent handling of an ending. To end a game, let alone the freaking trilogy, on such a lazy note is an incredible disservice to the the work put into the entire trilogy.

I'm still trying to find that GOLDEN quote from a BW/EA bigwig (its not Casey) who said something to the likes of "Mass Effect 3 will be the greatest game we've ever made".

Once I find it Imma put it on the first post IN BOLD.

On a related note:
Seems like the mods are resorting to a more diplomatically acceptable method of getting threads they dont like locked - log on to trolling accounts like Finalfantasy84 to egg people into breaking the rules or going off topic.

@Multiplayer optional LOL
You mean this quote?

What are your sales aspirations? Do you look at another series and hope to match their numbers?

We're making Mass effect 3 to be the best game we've ever made. That would make it one of the best games ever, and we're hoping to see sales that reflect that.

Found here: http://www.computera...ing-out/?page=3

He also mentions the '150 GOTY awards for ME2' somewhere. Suuuure. And the user score are just a bunch of whiners. Those awards and reviews are way more professional and can be trusted

I take it you don't like my logical nature? I'm sorry.  When someone posts something that is a fallacy...for example thinking they have the right to post whatever they want and/or mods have to provide us with a reason to lock forums, then of course I'm going to try my best to correct them.  Making a post about flaming people that work for Bioware is certainly no reason for locking a forum right???  Especially when it got locked once and you just reposted it and pretended like it was someone else's fault other than yours.
