I'm thinking about getting DA: Origins. My question is, should I run it in Mac OSX or XP via bootcamp? I heard that the mac port wasn't very good, but most of the info that I can find online is really old...
My computer is a 2009 macbook pro. My choices for the operating system are Snow Leopard of Windows XP via bootcamp. The laptop is definitely not a gaming machine. I have to run DA2 on all the lowest settings >>;
Which would you guys recommend?
Boot Camp or OSX?

You will have serious, serious problems running DA:O either way. It is by far the most graphically intensive BW game.
Seriously. I was using a Radeon 5450 that ran ME2 fine, and ME1 at the lowest settings. However, I couldn't even play DA:O, I had to upgrade.
You maaay be out of luck there.

Oh man! I was looking forward to playing too. I can't afford a gaming pc...
Could someone with a similar macbook tell me how Origins runs on your machine?

On my 2007 Macbook Pro (with dedicated graphics, mind you - even though only the 8600GT) DA: O ran very well under Bootcamp. If your Macbook Pro has dedicated graphics, at least under Windows it should run just fine even on medium or high settings (I think I ran it on medium). No idea about the Mac version really and it's performance, I didn't bother, but for Windows you can get the Ultimate Edition probably cheaper than the base game for OS X would cost. I'm also not sure if the Mac version allows you to install mods as easily as the windows version, if you're interested in that. I know some mods I used were distributed as .exe installers.

If you have a 9400m-Chipset (like me), then I have to destroy your hopes: It won't run smoothly on lowest settings (for me on my 20" iMac with 1680*1050 pixels - reducing the resolution does not make a big difference) with Windows 7 - I suppose there isn't much difference to a Windows XP-Machine regarding the FPS-Count...
And this is only the Windows-Version, the OSX-Version needs a little bit more resources.
However, if you have the 9600GT GPU you don't have to worry, since it should run on medium settings. If you have acces to Windows-XP licence you should use it.

I am running DA:O on a late 2008 MBP (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz) with the 9600M GT, 3GB RAM, and it runs well with all graphic setting maxed out. (There is only a delay problem in large-scale battles, where I have to lower the "graphic quality" slider.) Other than that, 1400*900 resolution runs with decent framerates and (almost) no glitches since the 1.04 patch.
On OSX. No Bootcamp required.
