I'm not sure if this has been covered or not. Does anyone in the game dialog ever actually use the name "Milky Way"? Seeing as human's named the Milky Way I would imagine the rest of the galaxy would likely have a different name for the galaxy where they live.

I think it's always just "The galaxy". Anyway, how many humans call it something other than the Milky Way? Can't believe the translation from every language from every culture is the same.

I notice in ME3 its titled "The Milky Way" on the galaxy map. I'd really like to know what they called it before humans joined the Alliance. Surely they called it something.

The galaxy is big, and before the humans became associate members on the Citadel, the other races probably just didn't care. Backwater places with no discernible economic/political interest tend to be neglected..
