What I find odd is that apparently the quality of your decisions matters little, it's more closely related to the quantity.
Example: someone in this thread was saying, "Krogan make good shock troops." Which is true, but it's not like taking Krogan over Salarian support is going to make any kind of logistical difference.
According to spoilers, the variable of your chosen ending can be "good" or "bad" and it's based on a number related to your collected war assets. So while, yes, you get to choose what color the christmas trees, er, sorry, mass relays light up before...well, you know, the only variable from there is did you collect enough war assets to warrant the good ending. The rest is cosmetic. Will so-and-so be in the final cutscene. That's about it.
Following logic will get you nowhere in Mass Effect, it's a number game. Getting the Krogans is probably worth a similar amount as acquiring the Salarians. Getting both, if it can be managed, will give you greater war assets. And you can probably still get the good ending with neither's assistance, provided you did other things instead.
To echo a sentiment from earlier in this threads and other threads but in a different context: it doesn't matter.
