I respectfully disagree. The overarching NARRATIVE tone of ME was dark and gloomy. A battle against harvesters from outer space portrayed as nigh-invincible? People dying left and right, sacrifices made, Shep never getting a single 'happy' cutscene after his 2 major victories? All check. Really, it' blatant.

Nope, preorder cancelled. Why would I play a game where I don't get rewarded?

No, I'm not going to buy a game I've been looking forward to since 2007 just because it has a bad ending; even though ME1 and 2 didn't particularly have good endings either...

I'll say it again.

I prefer hard-to-get happy endings to mandatory sad and terrible endings. Couple that with all 3 of the endings being complete crap to me.

There's a different between "Artful and mature" and "Forced and contrived", and the ME3 endings are teetering towards the latter.

All said, I'm keeping my pre-order. There are still elements in the game I want to experience.

Yes, I will keep my pre-order. I don't like to judge things without having experienced them myself firsthand.

The thing I don't like about this poll is that it implies that even though people are complaining about the ending, they're fine with it as they're buying the game.

The 27% will still buy it, they're just being emotional.

Yes, because I'm not going to base the quality of an entire game on a short cutscene of a few minutes at the very end.

Yes, but it's true, I won't be buying anymore BIoware games.

It's more about the forty hours leading UP to the last five minutes for me, than about the last five minutes. I'd be more inclined to pass it up if the overall story and gameplay didn't do it for me. Happily, it does. So I'm definitely getting it.

Mind you, I'm mostly happy with the ending as we know it now, so I suppose that's moot. But if I hated the ending with a passion, I'd still be able to see enough worth paying for in the rest of the game's content to throw my money in the jar.

Oh, I'll happily buy it. And then I'll sell the entire trilogy since I have no reason to play through it all again once I've seen the one ending for it all.

Yes. Stories have so much more to them than endings.

I know how Lord of the Rings ends, yet I still read it at least once a year. I watch movies that I know how end because they're good movies.

Yeah, but those endings were good.

These are not.

Yep still buying it. But if this one disappoints me like DA2 did then I'm not going to buy another Bioware game until it hits the bargain bin. Or maybe just rent, never buy.

What was so good about the LOTR ending other than the Gollum twist. When people praise the books and movies, do they make a special reference to it? Not really. Why? Because it's typical high-fantasy ending.

I would have voted that I will buy it used or after the price drop supports the cheesy day one DLC cash grab. Hell 60 bucks isn't that much to me, its the principle, except if I am extremely bored and the weather is too bad to go outside on the weekend following release, I'd end up buying it anyway.

I'm weak willed. I dislike the ending, but more so dislike the day one DLC cheese. Yet if I have nothing better to do, and this game is there a mouse click away...........I am just not a very good protestor. If I was one of those Wall Street protestors, I'd leave to line the second some rich dude walked past me and said I'm paying for beers.

Still FU Bioware for not giving me a Krogan party member........blah rambling now:)

But I won't buy it new. I'll buy it used.

Losing 27% of potential full-price buyers is a pretty galling number... BW better hope f***ing the Normandy doesn't put off non-fan customers in such large numbers. That's not a good stat.

A game they will have bought already. What are we arguing about, again?

*sigh* and then will quickly sell back because they never want to play something that hopeless again and warn their friends that the ending sucks. Word of mouth will wound the sales for this game pretty badly.

From that link:

But also, don't get your panties in a twist, Mass Effect 3 will not be a complete departure from the series' epic roots. "Mass Effect 3 is going to be the epic conclusion… so, a lot more darkness but also a lot more humor,” said Hudson.

And here I thought this thread was about THIS game. The question 'Will you buy another Bioware game?' is not the one discussed.
