Soldiers seem to be a bit boring like it feels like they are the only class without a unique ability that is fun or am I wrong? In Mass Effect 3 are soldiers the only class who get grenades or do all classes get them I would like to know if anyone knows what extras they get in number 3? Thank you.

Only class to get a frag grenade, others get some form or nother of a grenade.

Solider still carry the most weapons, with now abilitys to worry about CD wise. Soilders get the most upgrades for weight capacity.

Soldiers get the biggest weight bonus.

I think that is kind of a big deal as I like to have more than one weapon to use for different situations. Shotgun for fights at very close range, sniper rifles for distance, and assault rifles for mid range battles. I like to have all 3 in my toolbox (including heavy weapons, in some instances), but that isn't really feasible if you are playing an Adept. With an Adept for example you'd probably be limited to just a submachine gun, or a submachine gun and a pistol, so that you'd have maximum recharge on those biotic abilities.

I played soldier in both ME1 and ME2 and I loved it. Soldiers get heavy armor, the big guns and adrenaline rush. You don't need more as a soldier.

I tried the demo on insanity and it was pretty hard to kill the atlas (and its adds) with a soldier compared to the infiltrator. However, the unique ability of the soldier is to get a 3 in 1 ability (concussive shot) at the last level (concussive shot get a special effect from your ammunitions).

When you know well the game, it takes around 30 hours to complete everything.

Soldier is my favorite class. My companions have the biotic and tech powers.

The Soldier seems gimped in ME3 though. You have to choose between more weapons or shorter cooldowns. Weight is a big issue in ME3.

Gotta say I think ME3 is going to really improve the soldier experience. The fights seem to be less funnel like than before and Adrenaline rush seems so much more useful and I'd assume the weight restrictions will help since you can take a more varied load out with you.

If you have the days off, sure. It's easiest if your ME1 save was rich, and if you've beaten ME2 before so you get all the best starting bonus' (especially resources... mining is the time sink that eats a couple hours).

Adrenaline Rush is what does it for me as a soldier in single player. While I may not do the same damage with a sniper rifle as an Infiltrator (which I play as in MP), a soldier can adrenaline rush on any weapon they have and line up shots. An infiltrator is limited to their slow down on sniper rifles only. My loadout will likely consist of my assault rifle, a sniper rifle, and the heaviest pistol I can find to take out heavily armoured foes. I found I never really bothered with shotguns, and SMG's don't do it for me.

I like how they feel. While they may not have the versatility in powers, they still put up a good fight. Frag Grenade is a great power, and concussive shot got about 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000x* better by letting it curve around corners.

*Not an exaggeration.

What if your Adrenaline Rush cooldown was only 4 seconds with an assault rifle, but shot up to 20 seconds when you added the sniper rifle and pistol? I think ME3 will heavily favor fewer weapons. At least it's that way on the demo.

True, I mainly use the Mattock, but I've run out of ammo on that gun before and had to switch to something else. I don't want to be a soldier with no ammo. It depends on how much ammo is available in ME3.

Also, I like to occasionally snipe baddies from afar. Is that so wrong?

The demo gave us a full loadout of all 5 weapons though, and when I levelled my character I didn't put a single point in anything to reduce weapon weight and carrying capacity because I wasn't sure what the point was. Having played MP I have a better idea. Push comes to shove, I would drop the heavy pistol if I was worried about my power recharge rate as my play style relies very much on my assault rifle with the sniper rifle as a backup.

I'm quite glad that we can actually choose NOT to bring weapons with us. I never use SMG's (not that Soldier's had them in ME2) or Shotguns.

I hear ya. I think we have very similar play styles. I want the assault rifle, sniper rifle, and pistol too. Nothing more.

However, to approach the 3 second AR cooldown in ME2, you'll have to drop one or two of those weapons. I think. Again, it depends if the gun weights in the game differ from the demo. It also depends on weight lowering mods and armor. If the game is substantially like the demo, you'll probably be look at a cooldown time closer to 8 seconds with the assault rifle and sniper rifle.

With zero weight, the cooldown will be 3.33 seconds = 10 / 3

I can go over the math if you care.

Have a Soldier in the works right now (Near end of ME1, not sure if she will be ready for ME3, but then I do have 2 other Soldiers ready to go so she can go on standby for a week or two....or three.....

I think soldiers will still benefit from carrying as few weapons as possible, just like every other class. Where I think they will have an advantage, though, is within weapons classes. They will be able to carry better weapons without as much of a penalty. For instance, if an adept decides to carry a sniper rifle, a Widow will cause a significant hit to their cooldowns even if it's all they carry, while a soldier will probably be able to get away with carrying the heavier weapons.

It's not flashy, but it gets the job done. It's a lot harder to make a bad soldier than it is to make just about any other class bad. IMO

Considering my Soldier import gets a free boost to LV30, i'll max out Combat Training for Charisma and Strength, and then Fitness. Other powers get lowered priority.
Then I storm Mars with the full set of N7 weapons (CE and Valkyrie), with Vega armed with the Raider and Chakram, and Kaidan with the Argus.
It will be GLORIOUS.
