Mass Effect series is Dark Sci-Fi. Dark. No peaches and cream, sunshine and ponies, daisies and everyone lives happily ever after.
Mass Effect is about WAR. And SURVIVAL. That anything lives at ALL is a minor miracle. On Earth or elsewhere. Shepard's victory is that advanced galactic civilization, even if reduced to pre-spaceflight conditions, STILL EXISTS. That is a VICTORY. If that didn't happen, then the Reapers won, even if they were destroyed.
Earth will likely be the first to be restored to FTL Travel, as it's been less than 50 years since Humanity first attempted FTL travel. What's the bet that the records of those expirements are still in existance? The only rivals are the Salarians, since they only need 1 hour sleep. And no one will sit around on their butts simply because Shepard destroyed the easy things.
EDIT: Aftrer ME 2, this forum despised Bioware for giving everything away. Is anyone truly surprised by their silence now? BSN wanted less spoilers, so they got it. And now you are complaining about it?
Ahh... But I forget what BSN really is, so forget I said anything.
For the record: PRE-ORDER CANCELLED! With ME 3 ending Shepard's story arc, it was also supposed to KILL COMMANDER SHEPARD! One ending allows Shepard to survive! How dare they!
That more like BSN?

What really gets me is how people act like there's no way the series can continue on after this. Yes, the univese will certianly change with the destruction of the Mass Relays. But there's still a crapload of things that can be done.
Hell, one of the ruined Mass Relays could suddenly restart - which leads to a new storyline exploring "why".

Humanity must have already learned how to reconstruct them and not counting the other alien species;they know.
6 endings being bad don't mean being "conclusively"bad,just "bad";"Sacrifice"u make to safe the Galaxy and become a "Legend"-"Hero"not a "pointless"ending! remember that there's a 7th NG+ending
you never know...

Yeah, people are making a Mt. Everest out of a mole hill. Most players are probably going to like ME3, I personally love the fact that there is no happy ending, it would be too cliched otherwise imo. ME is not going to be something it isn't, there are no sunshine and ponies parts in this game series period; it is all dark going to darker. At the end of ME1 we found out that Reapers are nearly indistructable. It took thousands of lives just to kill Soverign and we learned that there was an entire fleet of Reapers heading for our galaxy. In ME2 we fought off Harbinger and the Collectors only to find that our actions did not matter, they did not slow down the Reapers and in fact that the Reapers were already six months out from our galaxy.
How does one view these endings and assume that Shepard is going to be able to stop the Reapers without massive sacrifices in either play style? Imo the people that assumed there would be this kind of option were setting themselves or for failure.

The ending is sick and disgusting . Xio has put a pic of the SR 2 crashing onto the planet in the epilogue video . yeah it may be dark but its as if they set off a nuke at the end and killed everyone

We'll let the sales speak. If fans wise up this will be DAII all over again, only this time Bioware might actually learn something.
Also, get off your high horse. Fans are asking for an OPTION that they worked hard for. I don't understand why some of you feel the need to belittle everyone that feels cheated that they only have 6 options that are all basically the same depressing thing. Was it too much to add even one high note ending? Whould that have angered the grimdarkers and make them believe someone pissed in their cheeros? No, it wouldn't.
Finally, not all love is short and fleeting. Many that romanced Liara or VS in ME1 and stayed loyal to ME3. That's years of commitment even when the relationships, especially VS, are suffering a huge downturn. It isn't about passion anymore if you wait that long and try to patch things up, it's the real deal. I'm sure you may not have experienced it, from your response to it, but love does exist.
+2 thumbs up on nailing it on the head perfectly.

Also, I swear I remember I heard that there were 7 endings but everyone is only talking about 6. Maybe I am mistaken but I think everyone is also jumping the gun a little.
Also the replay value matters, If there is no "good" ending, then I don't think I will play this game very often, however, if I know that there is one, I will play to try to get all the different endings knowing that there is always the option of going back and getting the good one.
Finally, I think what makes a "good" ending is that there be an option of Shep being with their LI at the end of the game. According to what people have said, I haven't read the leaks myself, supposedly shep gets stranded, well if shep is stranded with their LI then I will be content.
Essentially I think everyone should just calm down a little and see what the game is. If everyone is right and there is no good ending then I will join you, but I am going to play the game first and then decide. The Mass Effect team has made two great games so I will trust them.
One more thing, and I may quit. Remember when Bioware said that it is a good idea to save your ME3 saves? Why do that if there is not going to be any post story DLC's? maybe not but I don't think Bioware or anyone is telling everything at this point. I shall remain hopeful.
P.S. sorry I had a lot on my mind after seeing the launch trailer and this seemed, of the many topics out there, to be the best place to post, I know I was rambling somewhat. lol

Maybe Bioware is waiting until March 6 to release something like a release day patch that unlocks or installs something that has yet to be unlocked for the Space versions.
